An amazing place!

What an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived we fell in love with this place. We stayed in bungalow 2 and it was the most beautiful accommodation I’ve ever stayed in. We would get up in the morning and sit on our private decking and watch the sharks and rays and fish swim past within 3 feet. We loved exploring the motu- it is small so don’t expect to walk for miles- but every area brought different things to see. Food was served in a lovely open air traditional building and was always delicious. You can also choose to eat at a table on the main decking area and watch the sunset. We had drinks in the little bar- the drinks menu is large enough- don’t expect every choice you might find in your local bar- but plenty to choose from. There were only 3 couple staying whilst we were there so it felt very exclusive.
When we left we had a Polynesian musical send off- and we hating leaving!!!! We’ll be back.

Alone in the world on a heavenly motu

Magical place where the beauty and calm of the surroundings, added to the kindness and benevolence of the staff, make it an exceptional destination!! Also worth noting are the excellent local meals. This will remain our best memory of this trip to Polynesia. We highly recommend it!!

Pure luxury to relax into and indulge

Superb newly rebuilt bungalows. Very secluded. Nice and quiet for relaxing. Great swimming and snorkelling amongst the coral gardens. Exceptional levels of service by very friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Very good food.

A little piece of paradise on Earth

This was the second destination of our three-island honeymoon in French Polynesia and it will stay long in our hearts and memories. If there could be a perfect retreat for us, this was it. We had one of the three overwater bungalows, which has been newly refurbished. Work was continuing to refurbish the other two (minimal disturbance), so we were fortunate to enjoy total privacy during our 3 night stay.
We loved the airy, spacious bungalow, which still smells of fresh wood and had reasonably good air conditioning. The deck area was a decent size with spectacular views of Taha'a, Raitaia and Bora Bora in the distance across the turquoise lagoon. We were able to snorkel directly from our deck in the shallow lagoon and saw lots of types of tropical fish plus we were lucky enough to spot rays as well as two species of shark.
The restaurant opening hours for breakfast and dinner (half board), were somewhat limited, so we needed to arrive promptly, but the food was exquisite to look at and we enjoyed it a lot. Dietary preferences were identified and adhered to throughout
This is a place to kick back and unwind, and just appreciate where you are. We took the guided snorkel tour of the house coral garden, which was a highlight. The manager, Anthony, came to speak to every couple at each dinner time.
We did not visit the small bar or use the canoes, but the openly available snorkel gear to borrow was appreciated.
We took a half-day snorkelling and beach BBQ excursion from Taha'a, which was excellent.
All in all, the attentive service, beautiful food, stunning accommodation, beautiful setting and relaxed vibe made Vahine Island the highlight of our honeymoon.

Never again.

Highly recommended by the travel agency! However, it was a disappointment.
Although our bungalow was newly renovated, it lacked outlets in the bathroom, but otherwise it was clean and in order (last land bungalow). The island is tiny, and half of the island is not accessible as it is private - very difficult.
The food was mediocre and there was no selection. At breakfast, a menu (starter, main course, dessert) was presented, which could still be changed. But à la carte dining was not possible. Simply not feasible for this price!
