A good stay

One night stay. Hotel is undergoing a refurb on the ground floor - reception was a desk surrounded by building work. We stayed mid Feb and they hoped to have the new reception open by early March.
As always with HIX we had a small double bed in quite a spacious room. Everything was clean.
We were given complimentary water bottles to fill from the water machine as they don’t put water in the room. The only water station for the whole hotel is on the ground floor.
There is a seating area and table football on the lower ground floor before you enter the dining room.
Breakfast was good with the usual HIX selections.
Hotel is well placed for walking into the town centre where there are several nice restaurants. We always have raclette in Le Ch’ti Charivari in one of the two squares.
Car parking is underneath the hotel

The AC was very good, which was so important during the heat wave, and I liked the shower because the shower door closed completely which prevented water from getting all over the bathroom floor. In addition, the floor of the shower was not slippery the way most shower floors are.

My credit card was renewed, and the hotel tried to charge it, but could not. We had a small dispute because I thought that they had access to my IHG Club profile, which is associated with all current bookings, but they did not. Even though there was a problem during the day, we were welcomed warmly. They apologized and did it the French way: inviting us for a beverage. They also solved my problem that we needed a twin room, but it was not available. They just gave me a room with a sofa bed that they prepared for me. In our room, the heating was not working. They delivered a stand-alone heater. Since a youth group did not behave well early for breakfast, they warned us to start our breakfast earlier. That was what we did. I could only identify one waitress, who cleaned the table, served the guests, filled up the buffet, and maybe prepared food and did the dishes: I could not see anyone else. She had nerves made of titanium. She stayed calm when the group came. I hope I will come back again and be just as good friends, with no more problems... my card is valid until 2029...

The room was spacious, and the balcony had a really nice view. The breakfast was good, with a great selection of food. The arcade on the ground floor was very entertaining and exciting, and our family really enjoyed it.
The car park is secure with plenty of spaces available. Just keep in mind that you need to pay for your parking at reception to receive the discounted rate.
All the staff were helpful, polite, and very welcoming, especially when they gave our child a small bag of goodies, which was a lovely touch. This was our second stay at the hotel, and we would definitely come back again.

Hard to find underground parking also hotel entrance
Room seemed very dark and small, cleaning good but could have been better. I wouldn’t stay again, hotel showing its age not the staff
