Beautiful, calm, and relaxing place, spacious rooms, excellent welcome from Gisèle and Alexis, delicious meals +++, this is not the first time we have booked with them, and we always have a very pleasant stay. We recommend it!

Perfect rest
We went with our 7 children the owners greeted us with a big open heart , replied to Töut our request. Super quiet,clean and pretty place.the room great wheelchair access everywhere.We come back of course! Thank you again for all your love towards us and our children , we felt really welcome because this is not the case by Töut for a big family .

SILENCE AND PEACE
I spent a week with my family and the experience was exceptional. The place is beautiful and the tranquility incredible. The hosts prepare breakfast and dinner for you. The pool is wonderful. The surrounding towns are beautiful and the people, in general, very welcoming. Without a doubt, we will repeat. Thank you Gisele and Alexis

Wonderful haven of peace with stunning views, heated pool and lovely hosts
Set in the hills and mountains of Basque country, Azkena is a true haven of peace.. perfect for recharging batteries and reconnecting with nature.
The hosts,Gisele and Alexis are welcoming, friendly, very accomodating and very helpful in advising fun things to do in the surrounding area.. the landscape is breath-taking... the rooms are comfortable, our breakfast was delicious and it was also very practical to be able to have dinner on site.
The property also boasts a heated pool where you can also admire the incredible views while you unwind.
We loved our stay here and would love to go back.

Swimming the Rolling Hills of French Navarre
We spent a short break at Azkena, and it was absolutely great! The farm stands on top of a hill, with great views of rolling hills and little valleys, dotted with cows and sheep. You can only hear birds or cowbells, an ideal place to relax and get away from the stress of city life, peace and quiet is guaranteed. There is a warm swimming pool to enjoy even on drizzly summer afternoons and some swings for children (as well as some real horses!). And the hosts, Gisèlle and Alexis are very helpful and friendly. The only drawback is that the nearest town, Mauleon, is 30 minutes away by car, so, it is not easy to find shops, bars or other restaurants around, and you will definitely need a good road map or a GPS to find the property. The B&B costs €75 per couple per day.
The old farm was completely refurbished 5 or 6 years ago. Our room was very large, clean and nicely decorated, specially the shower with an Italian floor, and there was a TV set, the bed was made of wood, by their son-in-law, and it was very comfortable. The breakfast was continental: orange or apple juice, coffee, a chocolate crescent (“pain au chocolat”) and some crisp bread with butter and a choice of jams. It is worth having dinner there, we paid €20 each, and it was substantial. We were given a large home-grown green salad with a touch of garlic, a dish of Spanish cured ham, duck confit with homemade fries and the most delicious “piperrada sauce” we have ever had (a tomato sauce with onion, and a very tasty local green pepper), you could tell the tomatoes had been picked ripe from the garden and cooked straight away in their full flavour. For dessert, homemade apple pie. If you want to drink a bottle of wine, it is not included in the price.
From Azkena you can go on outings in the French Pyrenees (St Jean de Pied de Port, the impressive gorges of Kakouetta, or the Holzarté gorge), or you can visit Pau, the elegant capital of Bearn, which are all 1 hour away by car. Or you can just stroll along the local country lanes, and dirt tracks which connect the farms, hamlets, and little villages in a complicated network. Giselle and Alexis said that it was very easy to make a two or three hour tour of the surroundings, but we always took longer, never managed to find the right way and we finally had to walk back the way we had come… But the hikes were absolutely amazing, anyway, and we enjoyed every view at every turn of the way.
