Level far below expectations

The breakfast is catastrophic: a total lack of organization and restocking. No fruit available despite a wait of about 30 minutes; the bowl remained desperately empty. The bread is nearly nonexistent, with only a few leftover stale baguettes. No selection of cold cuts; the trays remain empty with no reaction from the staff. Even the water is lacking; the pitchers are barely filled, with only a few herbs at the bottom.
The service is exasperatingly slow; the staff seems completely overwhelmed and unconcerned.
In the room, the condition of the bed is unacceptable: the fitted sheet constantly comes off, revealing a mattress in a frankly questionable state. The cleaning seems random, if not nonexistent, unless one thinks to display a paper on the door — otherwise, nothing is done.
At the reception, the welcome is cold and unpleasant, with no sense of customer service.
The air conditioning is noisy and malfunctions, making the stay even more uncomfortable.
In summary: a very mediocre experience on all fronts. I absolutely do not recommend this establishment.

A very poor hotel that does not deserve its ranking

I agree with the previous opinion.
A Deplorable Welcoming by a Lady Who Must Be Disturbed ,
No empathy, no politeness...
An Icy Welcoming.
Fortunately because heatwave period!!!
But o surprise, the Air Conditioner is out of age and works very poorly.
Sweaty heat in the bedroom...
Very poorly slept
The next breakfast below everything.
Canned fruit juice like fruit salads ...

I was born and raised in Besançon. I've been coming to this hotel regularly for 13 years now. The renovations have paid off: the place is really nice. What's less so are the staff's soft skills, starting with the lady at the reception on Sunday 20/07 at around 4 p.m. Not a single smile, zero empathy and she gives the impression that we're bothering her. Same thing 2 days later when she was in charge of the bar (in addition to the reception). Ice queen. It's a shame, because for years the hospitality had been top notch. As for their breakfast at €18.50, it's between 2 and 3 notches below mediocre... there too a considerable drop in quality compared to before. We'll see if I give them another chance...
