quwerky hotel

We arrived with no reservation and were greeted by the non English speaking owner, we conveyed our request in pigeon French. We had a quiet room at the back of the hotel up a flight of spiral stairs with a rope banister. the room was very clean and recently refurbished. the shower was good with plenty of hot water. The owner opened the bar for us.
breakfast was a good continental breakfast, with freshly baked products the pain chocolate was still warm. would defiantly use this hotel again. Very convenient for ferry ports

Comfort level of a youth hostel.

If all you need is a bed and a shower, and you sleep like a rock and don’t need privacy, you’re golden. The walls are paper thin, the doors don’t completely seal, there are no screens on windows and no a/c so EVERY sound is heard from the rooms around you. Every sound. And the hallway reeks of ashtray. But the bed was comfortable enough and the shower worked and the croissant and coffee was fine. So, it worked for us.

Convenient place to stay

Unfortunately my car was vandalised and taints my opinion. However, the hotel was comfortable, I appreciated the fan as it was hot, the wifi, satellite TV and fridge were a real bonus. The host was helpful and kind despite my experience. Breakfast was good even though it was 100% vegetarian. My mate stayed in a four poster double bed, I had a single.

nice notel

in this quite small town it is a very nice fair priced hotel, just few minute walking distance from the centre ans the railway station. The room is clear, well, with hot water)) it is a good place to stay to see this city

Both hotel and owner tired and in need of a makeover.

This hotel was booked for two nights to use as a base for a small tour of the battlefields. The booking form clearly states the checking in time was from 13.00 to 23.00. After visiting a few museums en-route we reached the hotel at 15.50. There is a small parking area outside the hotel but spaces are a premium and soon taken so it will be hit or miss if you can get parked outside. We managed to park on an adjoining street but this meant going round the one way system to get back to the parking spot. The hotel looked deserted with no lights on and the door firmly closed. There is an intercom to contact the owner. I explained that we had a reservation and a voice on the other end said that they would be there in 10mins. After 30 mins there was still no sign of the owner. Another call was made and this time it was 5 mins and he would be there. After a total of 45 mins another call was made and this time he told us the numbers to press on the keypad to open the door and enter the reception lobby. Why he could not have done this on the first contact is a mystery. The owner finally arrived after nearly an hour of waiting. He was not very welcoming, didn’t apologise for being late, or for not being there when it clearly states that check in time was from 13.00 -23.00. We were shown to our rooms on the first floor via a carpet covered metal staircase which was noisy when walking on it. The rooms are small and in need of a total makeover and smell musty fusty. The wallpaper is fixed with drawing pins. The floor covering is in places threadbare. The bathroom had a shower cubicle that needed to be fixed by myself before it could be used. The beds were comfortable with fresh linen so that was a plus; it also had a fridge but no tea or coffee making facilities. There is a bit of traffic noise but nothing constant to keep you awake. The whole hotel is in need of some investment and with the right care and attention could be made good. The location is perfect for exploring the town and is only minutes away from the market square where you can find all you need. This hotel is let down by the owners attitude and the state of repair.
