Experience to flee
When booking, he was charming and welcoming. But everything changed dramatically when I asked for the cancellation 48 hours later. He categorically refused to refund me the €200 advance, without any listening or understanding.
However, I took care to explain my personal reasons with respect and honesty. In return: a cold, dry, guilty tone... and above all a total silence after my last message. No answer, no closing remarks. A brutal attitude, which contrasts with the “spiritual” and benevolent image that his establishment claims.
Very quickly, we understand that money comes before humans. And it’s particularly disappointing coming from someone who is supposed to embody values of listening, sharing and respect.
Added to this, after some research, serious doubts about his real skills as a surf instructor, especially to supervise children safely.
➡️ In summary: unstable behaviour, icy communication, rigid trade policy and total lack of professionalism.
To flee if you expect a minimum of humanity, reliability, and a truly secure setting.

Disappointing surf house
First – the house has been totally neglected for years. It's dirty, the garden is a mess of broken surfboards, rusting bicycles, and scrap metal. The skate-bowl was just a storage space for junk.
Second – the community. There is none. The owner complained to me on multiple occasions about how he used to host great parties and have world-class surfers stay with him. He regularly complained about novice surfers staying with him, and how they "expected" surf lessons. Other guests were nice, but there's absolutely no community here, and the owner seems pretty pissed off about it (which makes it even worse).
Third – the owner himself. Along with being grumpy the whole time, he simply disappeared for 3 of our 7 days without telling us. He was the only one with keys to the van, which contained the surfboards, so we couldn't surf for almost half the trip!
Fourth - the surfing. To act as an instructor in the region, the owner needs to pay a fee. He doesn't pay, so he's not allowed to operate on the beaches. He get around this by either taking you to remote spots (without lifeguards), or dropping you near the beach and driving away quickly. This is not a great experience for a "surf camp".
Other important points to note –
1) If you book via Booking or any other website, the owner will charge you extra to use surf equipment (we saw him get into an extremely heater argument with a guest because he charged them extra as they were leaving)
2) The house has basic equipment (boards, wetsuits, etc.) but a lot of it is damaged. For example, most boards are damaged, and the website says you can use bicycles, but we couldn't find a single one that wasn't broken
3) The property is in a very remote location, and there's little nearby. The nearest beach is a 40 minute walk, or 15 minute cycle (but good luck finding a bike that works). The owner will take you out each morning to a surf spot (that he decides), and pick you up later in the day, but otherwise, it's hard to get around. I'd recommend coming by car if you can.
4) The nearest grocery shop is a 15 minute walk, there's also a pizza takeaway, but not much else. You'll end up cooking in the house – there's ample equipment for basic meals. You can get to Capbreton by bus (one bus every hour), but the last bus back is at 8pm and there's no taxi service, so if you don't have a car you can't stay for dinner or drinks.
5) The website mentions breakfast is included, that there are organic veggies, that there's a beer fridge, and that there are evening meals. None of this is true. In the morning there is some cereal and occasionally bread. But again, if the owner disappears, you don't get anything. There is no beer fridge, no veggies, no evening meals.
All things considered, stay elsewhere and enjoy some real surf vibes.

Doesn't pay me back according to the Terms & Conditions
He never did.
I asked him multiple times and he kept saying the bank said my bank account was not right and (which it was) and that he couldn't do an online transfer. Then he said he would send me the money by mail.
Which he also never did.
It was 25 euro so I will survive but I think it's really not a decent way of handling the situation. Either not put this in the Terms & conditions or solve your bank situation, be honest, and pay back the money you owe.
