An oasis in the heart of Le Mans! I wish I was there right now.
We decided to take a side trip to Le Mans on our French family vacation. We wanted somewhere that would contrast the hustle and bustle of Paris, and we found the highly rated L’Hotel Particulier — an old estate boasting old-world charm with modern decor, and the most spectacular subterranean pool in the cellar. We booked L’Annexe, a cottage (also known as a “gîte” in France) separated from the main estate across a garden oasis.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but upon arrival I was absolutely blown away. The manor was stunning, and the cottage was roomy, with a long dining table, kitchenette, powder room, and all the necessities. Upstairs was a long room with a bed, a pull-out sofa bed, and a living room with a large flat-screen TV, along with a bathroom featuring a soaker tub, shower, and double sinks. It was quiet and peaceful, and the air conditioning was such a relief during the heat wave.
The pool was incredible — I cannot emphasize this enough. It’s set in a cave-like cellar with stone arched ceilings, which gave it this magical, almost secret-grotto feeling. It was such a highlight of our visit, amplified by the heat wave.
We also enjoyed breakfast in the large sitting room, which consisted of fresh items from local shopkeepers. We met the owner, who was absolutely lovely! My only regret is that we were only there two nights.
I also wanted to mention that you can walk to everything from this location — the ancient medieval village is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, and there’s a fabulous farmers market and exceptional restaurants in the old town.

The perfect host
Cecile was a wonderful host who was most welcoming. She could not do enough for us, and made us feel welcome and kindly arranged an alternative room to suit our needs. She also suggested some local restaurants which were all within walking distance. The pool was a great addition and the children loved it

Excellent place
It is a hotel that is very well located. We were lucky to stay in the annex which is a duplex apartment independent of the hotel so it is more private. It is a place that is very clean, the receptionist was friendly and is well located because it is a few minutes walk from the city center. If they are carrying a vehicle they have to give advance notice as they do not have enough places for all cars. Point in favor. They receive animals with an additional fee and I highly recommend this hotel because they are very honest, as I forgot my hearing aids in the room and when communicating with them they told me that they had been found and sent to my home without any problem.

Well located and spacious but old sanitary facilities
Not a hotel but chambres d'hotes in a good location in Le Mans. Friendly, large rooms, your car safely in the courtyard if you reserve it. You can do the rest on foot, LeMans is a 10-minute drive away. Reasonable breakfast.
But: sanitary facilities are really dated, small shower, very cheap and worn mirror cabinet. The lamps in it no longer burn and they are not replaced because such lamps simply no longer exist. Moreover, the room is very dusty, we had to ask for the carpets to be thoroughly vacuumed, I could hardly breathe. The elevator also smells musty. Please refresh.
