Wonderful Hospitality, great value. Highly recommended

We stayed at le Caborne for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. While the rooms are small they are comfortable and well appointed. What really makes this hotel stand out is the hospitality of the owners and staff. We arrived hungry and tired and without our baggage. Even though the restaurant was closed they sat us and provided us friendly and un-rushed service. What had become of our bags was questionable and since we arrived on a Friday late afternoon we were being told that we could expect our bags to be delivered on Monday. That would have left us without clothes etc for 3 full days, plus likely a wasted day on Monday waiting for the delivery. The owner spent time communicating with the lost baggage office at the Lyon airport and arranged for the manager to personally hold our bags on Saturday morning for pick up. It all worked out because he took the time to find the right person and follow up so we didn't make a wasted trip to the airport. This level of concern and service, combined with the comfortable and tasteful design, excellent food, friendly service and beautiful terrace gets a 5 star review from us. Quiet, comfortable, and walking distance to everything in charming Limonest and quickly accessible by car or Uber to Lyon, Beaujolais, Macon, etc. If you want great service, a comfortable bed, and a quite hotel Le Caborne is a great option if you don't want to be in the city (Lyon) or far off the beaten path with no services or restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommended!

Lovely Stay

This hotel was lovely for a short stay. We had a car so were able to drive into Lyon. The hotel was clean and quiet, the staff were extremely helpful in explaining everything to us and also helped us in cancelling one of the nights without charge. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Average but corny

For the first time in my life I was given a price for the room and when paying noticed that I had to pay extra VAT. I feel cheated and certainly will not go back to this place I enjoyed previously.
Breakfast at 9 euros is well under average.

Great view, very good food

When our dinner plans fell through my wife and I decided to try a new restaurant in the area. We chose La Caborne, as the reviews were quite good. We were not disappointed in either the food or the view (which is spectacular at sunset from their dining terrace. My wife had ravioli and a wonderful tuna steak, and I had fois gras terrine and an Iberico pork dinner. Both were on the "menu" for 29 Euros. I had some Brouilly wine which was served in a very small glass (by my standards). But two glasses sufficed! The desserts we chose were the apricot tarte, which didn't have enough of a crust to be called a tarte, but was tasty anyhow. In total the meal was a success.
