Lovely lunchtime venue

We called in for lunch whilst waiting for our son to arrive having climbed and descended Mt Ventoux on his bike. Nice setting on the terrace and the inner terrace had a cooling mist spray. Air conditioning inside. Very pleasant staff, english spoken. Good service and all food served satisfied everyone. Mix of order, menu du jour, omelettes, burger and child menu of spaghetti Bolognese. Desserts of ice cream to follow. All very reasonably priced. Nice to see how easily they could adapt the table layout to accommodate mother and child in pushchair and then later to accommodate lady in wheelchair.

Dishonest owner

Dishonest owner.
During my stay at this hotel, I was charged two breakfasts while I was alone.
I guess it was just a mistake by the young woman who took me in.
The owner claims that the reservation was a two-person room and that it is normal for me to be charged two breakfasts.
I showed up alone at the hotel.
The young woman who welcomed me saw that I was alone.
She did not ask me if we were two people contrary to what the owner of the hotel says.
There was therefore no reason to charge two breakfasts.
In addition, in the evening I ate at the hotel restaurant and the staff could again see that I was alone.
When I contacted the hotel a few days after my visit, the owner told me that he would look at the cameras to check that I was alone and if necessary refund me.
That person never did that.
When I contacted the booking company and they contacted the owner, he told them there was no billing error.

"Cyclists and Others"

Malaucene is at the foot of one of the main routes up Mount Ventoux, so one expects to see cyclists in numbers in town. In a busy street with plenty of competition, Le Blueberry caught our eye when we were looking for lunch, because it exuded a friendly atmosphere and was very busy. There was lycra in profusion and cycles propped in every available space nearby, but the service was quick and friendly and the food was local in style and very acceptable. Wine was attractively priced - not necessarily the case in Provence. The special cyclists' menu was a nice idea.
It was noticeable that there was a large number of locals eating here, always a good sign, and the factor which influenced our choice. We did not regret it!

Basic Accommodation and service

Went there on my cycling journey around Provence area. This hotel is on a busy street and a cafe is on the ground floor. The receptionist doesn't speak much English but has no problem with basic communication. My room is very basic with a window facing the street. There is no problem finding restaurants near this hotel, and an artisan market in the evening. The breakfast is a bit pricy and not enough for a cyclist. All in all, you get what you pay for.
