Lovely affordable option in Metz

I've stayed in some of the big name hotel chains in Metz and none of them were that great. Hotel Escurial turned out to be an excellent and affordable alternative. The room was warm and cozy (and Metz was very cold) and on a par with hotel room sizes typical of Paris. I was at the front with a large floor to ceiling window and small balcony and it was completely silent. The bed was super comfy, the room was kept spotless, there was a fridge (always a bonus) and the staff were delightful. It's also only a few minutes walk from the station and a 15-20 min stroll to the old town. I would definitely stay here again.
The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because I am not a fan of wall mounted hairdryers! My hair takes ages to dry and they never really do the job and got hot to hold.
At the time of booking it was cheaper to book directly with the hotel than with any of the usual booking sites so worth checking the hotel's website for prices.

Recommended hotel for stay in Metz, great location

Very good hotel, very clean, nickel room, very comfortable bed, impeccable sanitary facilities with everything necessary.
Breakfast Ok
Very welcome, information provided about the surroundings was very helpful including restaurant addresses.
Attentive and attentive staff to the customer and their comfort.
Perfect location, very good price.
I definitely recommend.

No hot water...

Not only were we cold (there are important thermal bridges at the window and air passes), but we didn’t have hot water in the morning in the shower room. Only very cold water. Unacceptable.
Management did not wish to consider our problem. No reply during check out or to our displeasure email.

Top service!

We had a very nice stay in Metz between Christmas and New Year's.
Since a long time we have not been received as friendly as here. The service was really excellent and almost out of date what you find at hotels. We were very warmly and guest friendly received a real plus and beyond expectations!
From the hotel you are really in a perfect location with everything within walking distance, the center (with the Christmas markets), but also the modern art museum were both within walking distance.
The only downside was probably that the bathroom and toilet room were quite cold. It was also quite a cold period and of course a momnumental building in which this might be more normal.
Overall definitely recommended.

We should repeat...Fine!

Location, bed, breakfast, hygiene , really perfect.
The decoration was very nice in harmony with the building (1930)
Staff very friendly and helpful.
