It was a very good experience overall. Great to have air conditioning and the food and the staff were great.

A 25hours fan, but some things are just 'off' here

I stayed at the 25hours Hotel Paris Terminus Nord for five nights while in Paris for a concert (Vanessa Paradis which was great!) and used it as a base for exploring the city. I'm a Dis-loyalty member and longtime fan of the 25hours chain, having stayed at six other locations.
LOCATION
While the area immediately around Gare du Nord isn't what you'd call salubrious, I had no problems with it and never felt unsafe. The upside of being right next to a major terminus is the access to public transport.
Gare du Nord is served by Métro lines 4 and 5, RER lines B and D (RER B runs direct to Charles de Gaulle airport in under 30 minutes), and there's a connection through to Métro line 2 at La Chapelle and RER E at Magenta. It's also a pleasant 20-minute walk down to the department stores on Boulevard Haussmann. Where I spent too much money!
CHECK IN
I arrived in the late afternoon and service was efficient — I didn't have to wait to be seen, and the member of staff checking me in was friendly.
ROOM
I booked a large room with a balcony.
Along with a large and comfortable bed, it came with a small desk, an open wardrobe / clothes rail, and a separate shower and toilet. One thing worth noting: the shower in my room was around the corner from the bed but open to the room, so that's something to consider if you're sharing with someone who isn't a partner!
Overall I found the room smaller than equivalent rooms in other 25Hours hotels, though I'd expect that in Paris, where rooms tend to be on the smaller side anyway.
The desk had quite a bit of clutter / objets on it, which made it tight for actually working — I was only using an iPad Pro with a keyboard and it still felt just a bit cramped. The balcony was a decent size for two, with two low chairs and a small table. The decor is funky, as is normal for 25Hours, which I like, but as is often the case in Europe, the lighting is on the darker side.
Unfortunately, elements of the room did let things down. A broken cross bar from a coat hanger was lying across the top of the wardrobe trolley, with the coat hanger — nails exposed — hanging on the trolley. Despite it being a very hot week in Paris, the temperature was set at 20 degrees and couldn't be adjusted, which made sleeping difficult. When I asked at reception, I was told only a technician could bring it down to 18, and they weren't in until the next morning. Housekeeping was also patchy: despite leaving the hotel around 8.30am most mornings, my towels were only refreshed after the first night, and on two occasions the room seemed to have been missed altogether, meaning I had to ask reception for fresh towels.
LIFTS
The lifts were constantly out of order, which I note from TripAdvisor is a consistent issue here.
PUBLIC SPACES
Again, public spaces in the hotel are much smaller than usually found at 25Hours hotels. The "co-working" space on the first floor is a single long table that would seat ten at a push. The bar is relatively small, as is the lobby — though I feel overall that's down to the historic building the hotel occupies rather than a fault in itself.
The bar service, however, was a low point: on ordering a drink, the barman's only words to me were "10 euros" as he presented the card machine.
BREAKFAST
I had breakfast at the hotel one morning and I'd rate it as average. While staff were friendly, a section of the restaurant were closed off. Guests were struggling to find cleared tables and in the end were resorting to clearing tables themselves.
CHECK OUT
Unremarkable really! Fine.
OVERALL IMPRESSIONS
The thing that sums up the hotel for me came after my stay.
The hotel emailed inviting feedback, with a button to email the General Manager directly about anything that hadn't gone so well. I took them up on it, laid all of this out, and then followed up when I heard nothing.
I never received a reply. For a brand I genuinely love, that silence says it all — operationally and service-wise, this hotel is just off, and the lack of any response to a loyal guest who was specifically invited to get in touch only underlines it.

Check-in was fast and easy and staff was friendly and helpful. Clean room with large bathroom and nice amenities. I loved have a small refrigerator in the room with complimentary drinks and snacks. The bed was comfortable and my room was quiet. Breakfast in the morning was included and offered a vast selection of items and was delicious. The hotel is directly across from the Gare du Nord train station which was VERY convenient. The hotel had a security guard which made me feel safe. The bar was lively and people were having a good time. The hotel has bicycles available to ride around the city!! Great value!!

A wonderful hotel full of character. Ideally located right on the doorstep or Gare du Nord. Staff were incredibly helpful. Room was well appointed and the air conditioning a life saver during the hot weather.

Location to Gare du Nord can't be beat. Literally across the street. Nit sure what "vibe" they are going for, it is not in sync with the classical architecture of the building or the neighborhood. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was not cleaned very well and had no wash clothes. Although they've have elevators, you can expect to wait for them.
