Fabulous Little Gem, top notch.
What a fantastic little hotel. From the wonderful Hotel Manager Leon, who made us feel special every day to the most wonderful fully restored Victorian elevator for two which was an absolute highlight for us. And let's not forget the super stylish leopard print carpet in the halls..... wow!
The Hotel Mathis is a gorgeous boutique hotel in a fantastic location just yards from the Champs Elysees. The building is a former apartment block which has been exquisitely transformed into a hotel.
We stayed in a Junior Suite with a balcony which was amazing. We sat out there soaking up the Paris atmosphere at all times of the day and night.
Our room was beautifully appointed.. large and with a super comfy bed and a luxurious ensuite.
We booked the breakfast included option which was served in the adjoining cafe and how generous and tasty it was.... a great start to each day.
All in all we cannot recommend this place highly enough and will certainly return if we are lucky enough to return to Paris. Bravo Hotel Mathis!

To not return
Disappointing experience, poor treatment, and little attention to detail. I had to leave early for family reasons, and they did not even consider reducing any days from the reservation. Short-term vision and little commercial sense justifying themselves with the rate that allowed changes but with little transparency on how they could be made. I will not return

Good hotel.
Typical, small parisian hotel. Very friendky concierge staff. Quaint 100 year old elevator that holds 2 people.
Leopard print carpet!
Toilet was a separate tiny, airless room from the bathroom.
Bed was big and comfy. Street noise ok. The guests upstairs a bit noisy.
Location is great. Plenty of places to eat nearby. Arc de Triumph 20 minutes walk to the right. Place de la Concord about the same to the left.

We loved Hotel Mathis. The staff treated us like family, with care, kindness and helpfulness. The room was lovely and the hotel is in the best area, walkable to amazing cafes and tourist attractions.

Review
My stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing and far below what one would reasonably expect from a property presented and priced as a 4-star hotel.
First, there was no air conditioning available in the room. Climate control is a basic standard in the 4-star category and something guests reasonably expect when booking a hotel at this level. Its absence significantly affects the comfort of the stay.
Second, the elevator is extremely small and outdated, making it difficult to use — especially for guests with luggage. It feels completely inadequate for a hotel that claims a higher classification.
Finally, the room was advertised as having a double bed, but in reality it was simply two single beds pushed together. That is not the same as a proper double bed and does not provide the expected level of comfort.
Taken together, these issues create an experience that is very far from what travelers would expect from a 4-star hotel. Based on the facilities and overall comfort level, the property feels much closer to what many guests would consider a 2-star standard.
Guests should be aware that the actual conditions of the stay may differ significantly from the expectations created by the hotel’s classification and pricing
