Wonderful Location and Place to Stay if you are looking for local living experience vs being a tourist.
The apartment, location, arrondissement (11th), comfort level and service (Jang is terrific) were exactly what we were looking for.
We have been to Paris before, so we were not looking to stay in the tourist areas or at a fancy hotel. The apartment is about 4 buildings off of Boulevard Voltaire. Within a 5-15 minute walk there are dozens of restaurants, boulangerie/patisseries, local markets (the ones with amazing fruit and vegetables out front), flower shops, barbershops, hardware stores, Bastille farmers market….basically, if you wanted to live in Paris, away from the hustle and bustle, this is it. We actually had better meals near our apartment then we did when we were in the tourist areas...duh!
There is also a Metro stop on the corner, but we choose to mostly walk …30 -40 min to the 3rd ,4th, 5th, and 10th arrondissements
Jang, the manager, was terrific. He was there for our every need. Always asking if we needed anything or he could help with anything. He would hear us walk in and come up from the basement to check on us.
They have a very nice breakfast area which served a continental style breakfast (15E each). Normally we prefer a boulangerie/patisserie, but we got one complimentary breakfast and we were rushing our first morning and i had not yet found the local bakery, so we did it. Its a basic continental breakfast.
There is no lobby or reception (but Jang was always around), just a small entry area before the staircase. Our room was big, but smaller than it appeared it would be from the on-line pictures. Still, the bedroom was not tight and the living room had plenty of space , tables, couches, chairs, etc, . The bed was very comfortable. Wi-Fi was fast and worked without a hitch. There were plugs everywhere and there was AC both in the living room and bedroom (not everyone puts two….. so kudos to the management) and, with the heat wave, the AC did not struggle.
The bathroom is tiny. The shower is a good size, but you cannot use the sink without closing the bathroom door (although we have stayed at some 5 star historic hotels in Europe and had tiny bathrooms…with tiny showers, so this was ok by us). But there was no room in the bathroom to put any of our stuff (barely could put a toothbrush and toothpaste on the sink counter). But there was plenty of area in the living room to put our toiletries, so that is what we did. Not a big deal as we do that all the time when we travel.
Note: it is difficult to park in front of the hotel to drop off your luggage…let alone park. The loading spaces in front of the hotel were always taken by workmen or other commercial vehicles. We parked across the street illegally while we unloaded, gave all the luggage to Jang, and then rush off to drop off the rental car and grab some lunch. Jang was great, taking the luggage and putting it in our room by the time we dropped off the car , had lunch, and walked back to the hotel.
His directions sent via WhatsApp to ring him from the front door keypad when we arrived were a bit confusing and we did not understand what buttons to push. We just kept pushing buttons till he answered (turned out it was three pushes of one of the buttons).
One thing they really should change is the room safe. Not only is it one of those old style ones the size of a toaster (barely holds your passport) and with a skeleton key, was not bolted down. We still felt safer putting our passports in it then carrying them around but ….anyone could just walk off with the safe. I get its a secure building but ..come on!. Bolt it down!! Also, these days, all hotels, apartments , etc, have large safes to put your laptop and other devices. So I suggest an upgrade and a few bolts!
On this trip to France, we stayed at high end suites, including one Michelin rated hotel, in other towns. While this was not the Ritz, it was exactly what we were looking for our stay in Paris
I would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend staying here for the laid back Parisian life style.

I had an excellent stay!! My first time visiting Paris started with getting an upgrade to a suite which was completely unexpected. The location perfect for exploring the 11th with quick access to the Metro for other adventures in the city. The hotel itself was clean, quiet, and the staff was so kind and accommodating. 10/10 :)

This place is such a hidden gem. Quaint, well appointed, the staff is super kind and helpful. I was cold so they brought an extra heater. The bathroom and shower is lovely, the bed comfortable. It had everything I needed. I would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

La Maison Gobert is located in a quiet street. Charonne Metro is nearby. A pleasant stroll along rue de la Roquette takes you to the center. If you take the back the Charonne you will pass nice shops and trendy breakfast addresses.
There is also the market Algery with fresh products and antiques.
Near the rue La Roquette you have lots of eateries and nice cafes. you immediately feel a bit French. The prices are also much more reasonable than in the center. Our favorite cafe was 'La Fee verte'. Restaurants : Orgeuil, Chez Janou (quickly full) and Suzie Wong (top asian)....
There is also the market Algery with fresh products and antiques.
