GREAT HOSTEL ST. CHRISTOPHER GARE DU NORDE
This hostel was great. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Safia, helped me with canceling a rental car that I would not have been able to do without her because the customer service only spokes French. They have events held their nightly so people can be social. Me and my son really enjoyed this hostel and I believe you will too. I would stay there again.

Great if you don’t mind sharing with bedbugs.
I’d really love to give this property a positive review but I can’t. The location was great and I thought the rooms were good value for money however the discovery of bed bugs mean that my stay was completely ruined.
I discovered bed bugs at around 3am (room 411) and went straight to reception. The lady at reception didn’t seem surprised at all and changed me to a different room. I immediately wanted to take a shower as I felt itchy and disgusting but the shower only had cold water however I had to use this as I just felt so disgusting!
I emailed the hotel to complain (with the email provided by reception) as I was asked to do and sent the photos and videos of the bed bugs however almost a week later, I still haven’t even had an acknowledgment. I was also meant to be having a refund processed but I also haven’t heard anything on this at all!
I didn’t want to leave this review but feel like I’ve been left no choice as I don’t know what steps the property are taking to resolve the bed bug issue!
I counted 6 in total on top of the duvet/towels but I didn’t check inside the bed so I’m unsure how many there were. They did vary in size from tiny little cream/white creatures all the way to just over half a cm in length. The next day I discovered I had bites on my arm, face, thigh and base of my bum too! These bites were consistent with a bed bugs however pattern according to google AI.
It’s a real shame as I was already planning on coming back later in the year before I discovered the issue. I hope they can resolve this ASAP as this hotel is in a prime location

Terrible experience
I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at this hostel. When we arrived, the bed assigned to me was already occupied by a man. I went to the front desk, and the staff told me they didn’t know who he was. Instead of investigating the situation or coming to the room to verify what was happening, they simply assigned me another bed.
The room itself was not clean and looked as though someone was living there. There were numerous water bottles, food containers, and personal belongings scattered throughout the room, making it feel unsanitary and uncomfortable.
After this happened twice, I asked if we could be moved to a different room because I no longer felt safe or comfortable. My request was refused. The front desk staff also declined to come inspect the situation, even after admitting they didn’t know who the man in my assigned bed was.
To make matters worse, the staff member I dealt with was rude and dismissive throughout the interaction. We ultimately decided to leave because we no longer felt safe staying there. Despite everything that happened, the hostel refused to refund one of the two nights we had booked.
This was one of the worst hostel experiences I’ve ever had. I cannot recommend staying here, especially if safety and cleanliness are important to you.

The location was really convenient, close to metro and walkable to some places. I felt mostly safe as a solo female traveller. Rooms were clean however incredibly hot making everyone and therefore the room smell bad. A fan was provided but only added white noise (which blocked out noise from the bar and stairs) and no temperature relief. I didn’t enjoy the atmosphere of the bar as wouldn’t let me use the quiet area in the back and was very load and hot. i instead spent my evening at IT Italian across the road and on the balcony area of the top floor of the hostel.
Also DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING OUT OF LOCKED CRATES I had my earplugs taken on day 2 of 5 even though i left them on the shelf of my own bed!
Also the showers were cold, this wasn’t a problem since it was a heatwave but could be an issue in colder seasons.

Anxiety-inducing
I am extremely disappointed with my experience.
I am a French citizen and I came only for one night to attend an event. This was the third or fourth time I stayed at this hostel, without ever encountering the slightest problem.
Upon my arrival around 5 PM, an employee refused to check me in, rejecting all my digital identification without seeking any solution. Her only response was that she "could not make an exception." As a result, I found myself alone at the end of the day in a city where I know no one, forced to look for other accommodation at the last minute in Paris (which I couldn't find on a Saturday at the last minute given the exorbitant hotel prices) or return to my city which is 4 hours from Paris by TER. It is a very distressing situation, especially when traveling alone. If I had had someone to stay with, I obviously would not have booked a hostel.
What shocks me the most is not just the application of a rule, but the complete lack of empathy and humanity towards a loyal customer. A simple effort to propose a solution or explain alternatives would have made all the difference.
On the other hand, I want to emphasize that the rest of the staff is very friendly and welcoming. It is a shame that one person can leave such a negative impression and completely ruin the experience.
I do not recommend this establishment as long as the reception and the way of treating customers in this type of situation are not improved.
