Family Hostel in a quiet village
Ideal pied à terre to visit the surroundings of Corte
Apartment simple, spacious, clean and well equipped. A little aging certainly.
Kitchenette
Good bedding
Air conditioning that works
A special mention for hospitality, friendliness and efficiency!
The hearty breakfast, served in the cafe opposite with a top view of the mountains. There also excellent welcome!
No parking but it is not a problem because even in the middle of August there is room in the street
We recommend eating at the Hostel: good and very nice.

Great place for genuine home cooking

Went here for a meal. Certainly worth a visit. The food is all home-cooked, with many local ingredients. The set menu is excellent value for money. Their house beef burger is really interesting. Service can be slow on busy nights, but patience is a virtue.

Nice restaurant and auberge

When you visit Poggio di Venaco, stop at this cute little restaurant and auberge. The food is very very good and the owners are very kind. Pizzas are a great option and the lamb is amazing!!! Stop here and also visit the two churches/chapels nearby, you'll be surprised

Lovey auberge with extraordinary restaurant

We had a self contained spacious apartment very well equipped in this Auberge, in a lovely village 10 min away from Corte, ideally located for beautiful hikes in the mountains. We could hardly wait to eat every evening at the restaurant below, owned by the same family. The dishes were fantastic (especially the cannelonni!), the pizza baked in the wood-fired oven placed in the middle of the restaurant absolutely delicious and Laurent, the owner, entertaining all the guests with stories and jokes, explanations about the surroundings, Corsican history and of course the food and drinks they are offering was the star of every evening. We felt homely in this small village, where we had lovely chats with the neighbours that made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended.

Warm welcom

We spent just one night in Casa Mathea but we were satisfied. Our apartment had a beautiful view, it was big and good equipped. Our host was very kind and helpfull. He speeks English as well. We had got a dinner in his restaurant just below our apartment. The cannelloni was very tasty! In the morning between 8-9 comes a guy on the street to sell fresh bread. Don't miss it!
