Fabulous, unique hotel! A MUST on any Loire Valley trip!

I cannot say enough about my experience staying here. The staff is so personal, making it their mission to ensure your stay is enjoyably, not only at the hotel, but in the surrounding area - oh, and by making dinner for the guests! :-) This is a special place, run by amazing people. This is an absolute must on any trip to the Loire Valley.

Dear oh dear

Tripadvisor really is a valuable tool for the traveller. Just got around to writing this review after leaving the Chateau on Sunday We stayed overnight and had dinner in the Chateau on Saturday night. My wife and I had previously stayed there some ten years ago and enjoyed it. We looked forward again to the visit Wish we had read some of the more critical reviews this time! We arrived mid afternoon to find the place deserted. We went in and searched the place tying to find some staff. After 20 mins a young man arrived by car and took us to reception. Reception was good and the young man helped us carry our bags up to the bedroom. Alas, lots of things went downhill after that . The room itself (and the Chateau in general) had not received any uprgrading since our previous visit! Facilities were very limited. No shower, no hairdryer, no airconditioning, light not working,no food or drink to be consumed in the room. Tired and drab decor. Internet kept droppiing signal and we had to continually log-in. I opened the window to let some air in worrying that it might fall down! We asked at reception if there were other rooms available but no. I know the Chateau dates from centuries ago but the modern traveller expects some basic amenities. It's fine if you want to step back in time and enjoy the luxuries of the 18th Century. We felt as though the hotel was doing us a favour by allowing us to stay! Dinner was fine in the openair courtyard though a little pricy for whats on offer. For example we had a set dinner in a close Michelin star restaurant for not much more. All of the above is disappointing though not as much as the check out the next day. My wife went to settle the bill while I loaded the car I came in to find the manager berating my wife for comments she had posted overnight on a travel website. Basically she had written an account similar to the above. He said that the Chateau was not trying to promote itself as a luxury hotel. See website. The lack of facilities was what people expected when they visited. We should have known what to expect since we had stayed there before (10 years ago). This Chateau is not for you he said and give us the best advice of all, you are finished with this Chateau and do not come back again.
This is very much in keeping with other guests comments regarding the management. It seems if you are critical of any aspect of the Chateau it is your fault. Management accepts no responsibility! Take it or leave it.

Honeymoon, anniversary - definetely

My husband chose this chateau for our 40th anniversary. What a treat.
so elegant, so quiet and so exclusively ours for the whole stay.
Beautiful, spacious room with bathroom in tower. Original paintings on walls, private chapel for a quiet moments and beautiful garden for morning coffee, walk or jogging. Wow ! We enjoyed our wine in the salon, relaxing after long biking/sightseeing day.
Cozy dining room with breakfast prepared especially for us - you could feel royal.

Exquisite !

The chateau is elegant--set on eleven manicured acres in an idyllic
village. it's exterior is breathtaking--roses climbing its walls, Iris in bloom, vines gently moving up the walls. Its interior is equally beautiful, bought back to its glory by two exécutives who chose early retirement to dedicate
themselves to restoring this historic beauty. Our Marie Antoinette suite was huge and elegant overlooking the peaceful
back courtyard. The only sounds were birds and a occasional church bell. Blissful rest.
Breakfast was perfect--croissants, fresh yogurts, eggs, cheeses, breads, meats, juices and perfect coffee. Dinner was over the top, beginning with aperitifs in the salon, a perfectly prepared entree accompanied by a delicious sparkling rose, and a main course of freshly (perfectly!) cooked cod with a balsamic touch, gratin, and broccoli. Dessert of a perfectly prepared sorbet, berries, and macaron followed. A heavenly
expérience.
Thèse men are masters of the art of hospitality. This was one of the most enjoyable stays we have ever had.

What a special place

From the moment we stepped in to the moment we left, we were treated very special. Nothing was a problem even though the Chateau was fully booked with a group we still had the best time and looked after extremely well.
When we came down for dinner we had our very own table set out and was served by the manager who looked after us throughout the evening. This was one amazing venue the suite we booked was so traditional and was very roomy, the queen size bed was fantastic and the bathroom in the tower was just outstanding. I really cannot fault this place. Peace and quite but with everything you needed.
All the staff were brilliant and very attentive even got a short guided tour of the Chateau which has its own church attached and still performs weddings.
If you need pampering and just want tranquillity this is the place for you.
