Stay here, you won't be disappointed

We stayed at the Hotel Montaigne in one of their largest rooms and loved it! Our room was immaculate, quiet and comfortable with a King bed, air conditioning and elevator access - these are not easy to find in Sarlat. And it offered an excellent value! The people at the front desk were warm, friendly and helpful, and spoke great English. The location of this hotel is perfect - it's approximately two small blocks outside the historical center, which meant the Market Days did not inconvenience us. We loved our time in Sarlat and are very glad we stayed at this excellent hotel!

Well maintained building and clean. The staff were excellent. If you don't have a vehicle and traveling by train, be sure to have everything prearranged. We ended up having to walk from the train station to the hotel.

Modern hotel with significant design flaws

Stayed two nights. Well located property within walking distance of the main attractions, several restaurants and shops; fairly quiet. Our room was clean, but small, cramped and poorly designed, even though the property looked recently renovated. There was hardly any space to open two suitcases and walk without tripping. Well located power sockets. There was a mini-fridge (which didn't cool much) but no electric kettle. A/C worked well. Comfortable beds and pillows.
The bathroom was poorly designed, with minimal or no shelf space and no towel bars. The sink was wide but very shallow. Instead of a shower cabin, there was an old-fashioned bathtub with slippery surface. Shower with good water pressure.
Average wifi.
Breakfast with reasonable selection. One paper napkin per guest (wrapping the utensils) and no spare ones available.

Hotel in the city center

Happy with our stay, we had a very small room, but nothing was missing, the hotel is very clean. The hotel is very well located, just a 5-minute walk from the center. The problem in Sarlat is that all the parking lots are paid, even the one located at the foot of the hotel; however, the hotel offers boxes for €7.50 per 24 hours. We recommend this hotel.
