An absolute gem of a place
Superb location in a beautiful part of France! Ideal for chateaux visiting and wine tasting with beautiful villages around. The host at St Hubert was excellent and the facilities amazing! The entire place is set in fantastic grounds with great amenities! The rooms were immaculate and the breakfast was outstanding with a fabulous selection! We definitely recommend and we will definitely be back! Thank you Samuel

Beautiful gardens, well equipped lovely rooms with tv access to streaming channels if required, superb breakfast - there was so much choice, we couldn’t do it justice - and friendly, helpful host. Highly recommend!

A beautiful retreat
Chambre d'Hotes Saint Hubert is a tranquil haven. Set in stunning peaceful grounds it is a sanctuary away from the chaos of the tourist trail.
There is nothing in the village of Saunay but if you have a car I can't think of a better place to stay. I have stayed in a couple of places in nearby Amboise before but now I have found this place I will never stay in one of the big towns again. All the main chateau's are easily accessible from here.
It is such good value for money when you compare it to similar accommodation in Amboise.
My room looked over the stunning garden. Big comfortable bed, spotlessly clean. lovely shower with all the bits and bobs you need.
Free wifi which was quick and easy.
Breakfast was a massive spread, sweet, savoury, meats, cheeses, cereals everything you could think of for a continental breakfast and more!
The proprietor seemed like a jolly chap, with my best school girl French I managed to converse with him quite well and he spoke slowly and clearly so I could understand. I wish I could have chatted with him more but my knowledge of French let me down!
There is a small pool which was lovely and warm and most welcome after a day out.
This place is so beautiful I could have happily stayed there all day!

2 extremes - beautiful but NOT comfortable.
The hotel grounds are beautiful, as is the interior décor, and the room was very artistically decorated.
The breakfast was magnificent, everything you could want, and very appetising.
BUT ...
The hotel was very difficult to locate - at the other end of the village from the GPS address, and no sign outside to find the premises.
The hotel garden includes caged wild birds - not nice.
The room was very cold and the radiator barely tepid. We had to use the hair-drier to try to warm the room.
Unfortunately there was no kettle or tea or coffee. I know some French don't provide kettle, tea, or coffee in the room, but with international guests most other French hotels now supply kettle, tea and coffee.
There were insufficient electric sockets to plug a laptop, or to charge a mobile phone, without unplugging the TV.
The desk was too small to fit a laptop with a TV, and was wicker-wood, so a mouse won't work on it.
The shower looked beautiful - but impractical - no shelf for toiletries whilst showering.
The breakfast was magnificent, everything you could want, and very appetising.

Beau cadre, bonne adresse
Chambres d'hôtes labellisées 4 épis Gîte de France : maison calme et bien aménagée, chambre très propre, et piscine-terrasse-parc tout autour très joli.
Le propriétaire reçoit très bien, et en tant qu'ancien restaurateur il prépare une belle table de petit-déjeuner: beau choix de pains, et un plateau de fromages super!
Nous avions une petite chambre twin sous les toits, un peu juste comme nous sommes grands (peur de se cogner la tête), mais cosy, avec tout le confort nécessaire.
Les petits plus qu'on a aimé:
- les deux vasques dans la salle de bain et la grande douche
- un grand parking discret, à l'écart de la maison derrière des arbres (donc on ne prend pas son café avec la vue sur les voitures, c'est bien)
- lumières automatiques avec variateur dans les escaliers de la maison: c'est tout bête, mais c'est agréable
- un petit document tout prêt, avec la liste des restaurants du coin, la distance, les coordonnées pour réserver.
Sinon en haute saison, le proprétaire fait aussi table d'hotes.
