Excellent hotel

I loved it!
Room and bed linen very clean, excellent location to go to all the sights on foot.
Terrace overlooking Acropolis with a beautiful sunshine.
I recommend!

Tiny room in good location

The hotel has a great location but the room was tiny and very cramped for two people. It had a large balcony with a lovely view. Breakfast was continental and was ok but it had to be booked the night before.

What a disappointment despite what the guidebook says

I was solo for 3 days in Athens. The location, bedding, and cleanliness are all on point. As for the rest, we were not welcomed at all, not even the minimum.
They barely look at you when they say hello. Only the housekeeper was smiling. Honestly, I hated it, run away, just because it’s a tourist city doesn’t mean you have to accept everything. I was told that Greeks were welcoming, but everything in Athens is the opposite; regarding tourism, temple merchants, it’s impossible to look at a restaurant menu without someone jumping on you. Going to the islands is the exact opposite, phew!

An Ideal Budget Hotel in the Plaka

We stayed at the Hotel Phaedra twice: once on our way to Crete when we spent a few days in Athens in September, and once in October after we returned and stayed two nights. Both experiences were great! I get very frustrated when people criticize budget hotels that are just outstanding, as the Hotel Phaedra is. Of course, you can't expect 5-star luxury, but the rooms we stayed in at the Hotel Phaedra was pristinely clean and both had an ensuite bathroom. It was a twin room, and yes, it was a bit small, but given the price, the location, and the friendly staff, we were quite pleased. We had a view of the Acropolis from our room, and one night went up to the rooftop with a bottle of wine, and we had the remarkable experience of looking up to the lighted Acropolis and down on the buildings in Athens beaming under a full moon--all on our own. It was fantastic!

Recommend!

Location, location, location. This was my first trip to Athens and I'm glad I chose the Hotel Phaedra in Plaka. The bed was comfy, the room was bigger than I expected based on some of the reviews here, and the staff was accommodating as much as possible. I recommend this hotel!
