Our home away from home

For 13 years, this has been our base of operations at least once a year. Dimitris and Eleni took over from Eleni’s mother a few years ago and renewed the entire complex, but the small-scale, friendly and homely has remained. Despite some setbacks during the renovation at the beginning of the season, the new apartments (even without booking Sunweb) are highly recommended.
Food is done fresh and for a fair price. Before 3 pm you give us what you want to eat and then the shopping is done fresh and prepared with love and passion by Manthos and his wife Eleni (another Eleni idd).
Every morning you can get a big smile from the big friendly giant of the complex, namely from Jorgos, the gardener.
Eleni Village is located in the middle of Ammoudara (Gazi) and is therefore a great base to discover Crete. Heraklion (15 min), Matala 1 hour and nice beaches such as Agia Pelagia less than twenty minutes.
For us for at least another 13 years our second home away from home..

Love Crete? You’ll love this place!

We've been coming here since 2001. Visit almost every year. First with children in the pre-season, layer high season. The last few years as a couple in the postseason. Loving team. Little oasis.

Make sure this matches your preferences before booking

The apartments are neat and well maintained. Unfortunately, there is currently a lot of construction work going on, which affects the overall peace and quiet. In addition, a padel court has recently been built that is only accessible to external visitors and local residents. If you are staying near this court, you will certainly experience lots of noise and light disturbance.
The apartments are less suitable for families with small children due to the many steps. They are also not ideal for people with limited mobility.
The road leading to the beach, shops, and restaurants looks somewhat untidy and is quite busy with traffic.
Finally, the restaurant and bar were closed during our stay, which we found disappointing.

We are really sorry you didn't have the best experience because of the construction that was taking place on that period of time. We truly can understand your dissapointment.
The padel court is available a few hours per day , and the last game lasts maximum until 22:00 , and this is not hapenning every day.
We also have flat apartment without stairs for people that have mobility problems. they can find it through our partners (sunweb) under the name : standard apartments .
Also, the new ones which have already completed , have direct acess to the room, not stairs in between. Thus, we have a few choices for families with small children and for people with mobility issues,

Nice accommodation

Complex is currently being renovated/newly built. Unfortunately, we were not aware of this.
It is expected to be ready by the end of July 2026.
Apartment has very good beds and pillows.
Air conditioning only in the bedroom living room has a ceiling fan.
Cleaning is very good.
Staff are very friendly.
Environment
I didn't find it very cozy, 1 street with several shops and a number of taverns.
At 5 min away by car is a giant supermarket.

Wonderful stay!

Beautiful location. Owner Dimitri and team really do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Very welcoming and questions or comments are immediately responded to. The apartments are spacious, neat and clean. Bathroom not “typical Greek” but very spacious with rain shower. Beds with thick good mattresses. Great pool with fantastic sun loungers. Dimitri has ambitious plans to take the complex to an (even) higher level. For example, apartments will be added and a real padel track has recently been realized. The restaurant is also being renovated. This will be completed shortly. We are very curious, will definitely stay there again!
