Brand New Ikos Resort

We have stayed at Ikos Oceania and Ikos Aria and were excited to visit Ikos Kissamos at its opening.
We had an early arrival and encountered a beautiful property. In the hotel lobby, we were perfectly welcomed by Eleni, who made check-in a breeze. She was inviting and personable and provided additional details and information for amenities and experiences we could avail ourselves to that we did not learn from other sources prior to our arrival.
We were quickly sent off to enjoy breakfast while we waited for a room assignment.
Market Buffet: Great food selection. We encountered a few opening week issues, but the glitches were trivial and food for a good laugh. It was like a bicycle with training wheels that were coming off. It was a little frustrating to acquire a good cup of Greek coffee, but George from the buffet came through for us.
While waiting for our room, we wanted to solidify our dining reservations for our stay. After making sure our Mother’s Day reservation was solid, we looked to fill our last remaining timeslot with the newly acquired info regarding some experiences we had not previously been aware of. Unfortunately, that did not go as smoothly as anticipated. After two failed attempts, it was Vasili who came through for us on our third try and had everything corrected.
Our assigned room was in the more recently opened River Pool area, nice and quiet. To get there, we had to cross over any one of several bridges. At some points during the day/evening, the odor from the natural waterway was less than desirable. This issue might still need a little more attention.
The accommodations are very well appointed. We noticed there were no tissues in the room, but since so many accommodations no longer provide them, we are used to bringing our own, so it wasn’t a big issue. However, the lack of one amenity was a bit disturbing. 2 of the many appreciated Anne Simonen products always provided by Ikos at the other resorts we have visited are their bath and facial soaps. We purposely did not pack any for our use, assuming they would be in the room. No soap. While the shower gel is great, the facial soap was sorely missed.
Elisavet (hotel) did provide an alternative, and Thekla (guest ambassador) went above and beyond to provide a solution. (Still no explanation as to why there were no soap products. Is it all of Ikos as of this year, or just Kissamos?) We would like to thank Thekla for listening with genuine concern to all the observations we provided to try and help with the grand opening issues.
Special shout out to Stella for being a great escort on our bus trip to Falassarna, and to Theodora for always having a beautiful smile when we encountered her inside the hotel lobby or on the grounds.
Hotel management: Kristina, Ioannis, Álvaro, Vasilis, all were sincere, grateful, appreciative, and totally understanding of any issues and suggestions for solutions we had to offer. This is a good team.
On to food/beverage.
Fresca: Zoe could not do enough to cover opening week shortfalls with grace and humor.
Anaya: Ioanna made us laugh and feel perfectly comfortable around the Teppanyaki table, and the lovely chef was entertaining.
River Pool bar: Achillea was always suggesting great things to eat, drink, and be merry!
La Plage: can’t say enough about the great food—mussels, tuna steak, beef fillet, etc.— ”on a good day”. Unfortunately, consistency might be an issue. Anything lacking was made up for by the pleasant dispositions and sincerity of Alexia, Apostolis, Zoe, and Frideriki.
Beach Club: So many delicious choices for lunch and dinner. Wish we had more time to taste more items, drink more wine, and enjoy the excellent conversations with Aris and Konstantinos. Kudos to chef Dionysios.
A very big shout out to food and beverage manager, Leonidas. There was not an establishment we visited for breakfast, lunch, or dinner that we did not encounter him making sure guests were comfortable, feeling welcome, and attending to their needs. Thank you for the wine suggestion.
We are finally getting to the highlight of our stay at Ikos Kissamos. We could not have been better welcomed, pampered, and fed than at the restaurant, Kriti. This is the epitome of Cretan culture and hospitality. There are too many names to mention, and we apologize if we forget any, but starting with head chef Manolis, whose top-notch service and personality just seemed to rub off to everyone else, we thank Nicholas and Manos for the great food, Lambros and Eirini for the great service and very informative conversations, and Biku for an excellent cup of Greek coffee.
Manolis is an exquisite chef. The food we ate was always mouthwatering and perfect. There was no limit to what he did to go out of his way to make sure we felt welcome and beyond satisfied. Chef Manolis: “You are Ikos Kissamos!”

Excellent from start to finish!

We’ve just returned from a fantastic week’s stay at Ikos Kissamos.
The level of service we received from every member of staff was exceptional, but a special thanks has to go to our lovely concierge, Elissavet. She went above and beyond to make our stay perfect and responded instantly to every request – sometimes it felt like she was reading our minds!
The kids’ club was fantastic. My two children, aged 7 and 8, wanted to go every single day and the team made it so much fun. A special thank you to Jarrod and Elise.
We also wanted to thank the brilliant team at the Deluxe Dunes Pool. They were lovely to chat to and the service was amazing – our glasses were never empty (now the detox starts!). Thank you, Alex and Ari!
The restaurants were all exceptional and it’s genuinely hard to pick a favourite. We loved Beach Club for lunch, and dinner on the beach is very special.
We didn’t have time for a sit-down lunch on our final day, but the team at Fresco kindly prepared some food for us to take away. It’s little touches like this that make the service at Ikos so fantastic, right up until the final minutes of your stay.
Thank you again, Ikos Kissamos – we can’t wait to return! From the Evans family

Wonderful night

A truly special evening at Kriti restaurant, breathtaking views, and exceptional service. A special shout-out to Pilar, who is an absolute machine, as well as her colleagues Radu and Ricardo. To top it all off, the desserts were delicious! Special thanks as well to the managers, Nikoleta and Manos, for their warm hospitality

Another Fantastic Ikos Experience at Kissamos

Having visited Ikos Oceania a few times (which we loved!), we were really excited to try a different Ikos resort, and Ikos Kissamos did not disappoint.
Our rooms were lovely — spacious, clean and very comfortable. We stayed in two of the garden rooms, which we really enjoyed, and having gates leading directly out towards the poolside was a great benefit. We were located by the River Pool, which was a fantastic location with the pool bar conveniently close by. The housekeeping team also did a brilliant job throughout our stay.
As always with Ikos, the food was absolutely superb. Our favourite restaurants were Azul, Beach Club and Anaya (especially the teppanyaki experience). We particularly loved Azul, as we hadn't experienced a Peruvian restaurant at Oceania, so it was great to try something new. The teppanyaki at Anaya was also a real highlight (and a special shout out to the lovely teppanyaki chefs and Maximillian too!) - we would recommend booking this as early as possible, as there are only a few sittings available each evening (we did it as soon as we arrived).
But, as with all our Ikos stays, the real highlight is the staff. They are what makes the Ikos experience so special, and throughout our stay we were made to feel incredibly welcome and well looked after. Although so many members of staff deserve a mention, there were a few who particularly went above and beyond and made our stay extra special:
At the River Pool, Honey and Achilleas were both fantastic. They were incredibly attentive, always happy to chat and made us feel so welcome. They also recommended a visit to Falassarna Beach, which we took their advice on and would definitely recommend — it was beautiful.
Reni at the Beach Club was another standout. She welcomed us every day (we went there to eat more than anywhere else!), knew our favourite table and always seemed genuinely pleased to see us. Those little touches really do make a difference.
Adela at the Gelateria was also such a lovely person and incredibly kind to all the children — as well as the adults who couldn't resist an ice cream! She is a real asset to the resort.
At Azul, Edu deserves a special mention for his fantastic cocktails and the entertaining way he made them.
We would also like to mention George and Andre at La Plage, Simone and Zoe at Fresco, Arthur at Azul, Dimitris and Eva at Beach Club and Scott in reception who checked us in. All of the buggy drivers around the resort were also fantastic, but especially Aron who was particularly kind and helpful.
We also wanted to give a quick shoutout to Rafail at the Sports Centre, who played pétanque with our family. We weren't quite sure how we'd feel about playing pétanque in the heat, but Rafail was so friendly, fun and welcoming that we ended up having a brilliant time. As a family of all adults, we really appreciated the relaxed and open atmosphere he created, and it was a lovely way to spend an afternoon together.
One area we think could be improved is the “adults-only area" in the River pool. The signage was small, so it wasn't always immediately clear that it was an adults-only area. The mornings were generally peaceful, but as the day went on there were often children with balls and inflatables in the adults area making the pool become quite noisy. We think clearer signage and perhaps a little more monitoring would help to preserve the relaxing atmosphere the area is intended to provide. I think they may be considering building a separate adult only pool for next season which would be a very sensible addition.
That small point aside, we absolutely loved our stay at Ikos Kissamos and would happily return. It is somewhere you can genuinely switch off, relax and feel incredibly well looked after. Another fantastic Ikos experience — thank you to everyone who made our stay so memorable!
With thanks, the Kekwick family

Would highly recommend

I arrived with mixed thoughts, knowing the resort opened 3 months prior and there are always going to be a few teething problems, but I was genuinely blown away by how smoothly the whole operation ran.
The resort is around an hour from the airport and, as you’d expect from IKOS, the atmosphere is incredibly serene, almost like walking into a spa. Everything was exceptionally clean and beautifully maintained.
We stayed in an entry-level Family Room. It was small but perfectly manageable for the four of us, and being on the first floor meant we had a lovely view of the pool and sea. The balcony was a good size with a sofa, although I would have liked sunbeds or a parasol.
You do pay a premium for IKOS and it’s exactly what you expect to get- everything is thought through. The resort is huge but all along the beachfront unfortunately it was too windy to use the free water sports facilities but the beach and pool are both great. If you have mobility issues ask to be near reception as it’s a long walk or cycle to the other buildings. The shuttles are much needed.
We were right in the centre of the resort, so we could hear the bands playing until around 11pm. It was a little late, but our children were fine. If you have younger children, I’d request a room further away from the beach bar and lobby where the evening music is played.
There were a few teething issues with restaurant service and breakfast staffing at peak times, but the team were clearly doing everything they could and it didn’t detract from our stay.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional, particularly with our children. As we were celebrating our anniversary, Kristina and the front-of-house team went above and beyond, arranging champagne and cake in our room, as well as a special breakfast and dessert.
The poolside ice cream and BBQ were great, and Zoe and the Frescos team were brilliant with the children. The daily pizza making was a particular favourite.
The only thing I’d change would be moving the mini disco back to 8pm. At 6.15pm, our children were still in the pool and didn’t want to go to kids’ club, so we missed it.
Overall, I couldn’t recommend IKOS Kissamos enough. I’m not usually someone who returns to the same place twice, but I would go back in a heartbeat.
Well done, Team IKOS. A fantastic job, particularly considering how recently you opened. We’re already looking forward to seeing the expansion next time we come.
