Excellent
Great place to stay in. Very nice view, and good location. 10 minutes from the town suoiga where a wonderful beach is and lots of restaurants. The staff here were very nice and hospitable. They were at your service when you needed them. Cleaning staff cleaned and fixed the sheets, changed towels and much more every day. They offered breakfast, dinner and snacks every day. Maria who was one of the responsible was hospitable enough and upgraded our accommodation the last 2 nights to something even better. Theano who was also one of the responsible was nice enough and gave us a whole bottle of freshly squeezed olive oil which. All in all, I recommend this accommodation and hope to see you again in the future!

Amazing room with a view but no bar and srange in room breakfast/dining.
Smart looking hotel and a lovely room with a fantastic view, but we had issues and there are things that the hotel needs to do better. Key things they need to either sort or make clear is that breakfast and dinner is delivered to the room and there really isn't appropriate table/seating for this, so we never did it. There are a few seats/tables near reception but we were told not used for breakfast etc??
The location and surrounding area is truly gorgeous and thankfully the nearby beach Sougia has lots of lovely bars and restaurants (MUST TRY TZITZIKI) and parking or taxi is easy. The room was very smart and modern, plenty of space and really comfortable bed, with huge glass window/sliding door (why is there not a handle on the outside?) with a view to die for of the mountains.
Our problems - we had booked the Honeymoon Suite but were told in advance that this was not available now for the summer, so were offered next best. Unfortunately this turned out to be in the middle of work being done (they are added rooms above) and workman would start at 8:30am. Also the pool had no power for 2 days, so no pumps/jets and no lights. We were offered an alternative room but we were only staying 3 nights and not really worth packing and unpacking etc. The sunbeds are fixed and not adjustable and for some reason ours had a slope! The staff were very friendly and offered lots of suggestions of places to go etc and also sorted out a partial refund due to our problems.
Worth noting that when the additional rooms are finished, they will be above and overlooking the rooms below (ours), so not quite the isolation that you would expect. Also, be aware that the pools do interconnect between rooms, so sharing the water. This might put some people off, but as long as filters and pumps work we think that it was fine.
Overall, think the hotel could be so lovely, but does need to sort out an area for eating and our room (shown on main photos) could do with the terrace area being tidied up. We think also they could do with replacing all the wicker fencing with proper modern style wooden boarding, would look so much smarter.

Beautiful area, away from the crowds.
Really beautifully renovated-keeping with a rustic feel. We really enjoyed our stay here. I would recommend for anyone who wants to be in a quiet remote place. It is a ten minute drive to the town of Sougia. Other than that you are not close to tourist destinations. The staff is extremely helpful in making recommendations and giving advice.

We were initially disappointed to hear a week before arrival that the honeymoon suite was unavailable due to repairs, but what followed was nothing short of wonderful.
Our replacement room was beautiful, and the moment we saw those dramatic, serene mountain views, any lingering "what ifs" melted away. It’s the perfect escape to slow down and breathe. Even the winding, adventure-filled drive there makes the arrival feel earned. The food was another major highlight with fresh, healthy breakfasts and deeply satisfying dinners. The sauna was incredibly relaxing.
But what truly made our week were the people. The staff immediately made us feel genuinely welcomed. Theano went above and beyond to ensure we felt special and well looked after (more than making up for the suite situation). Joanna brought a warm, genuine smile to every dining experience. Last but not least, Maria was wonderfully sparkly, laugh-out-loud funny with a lovely touch of sassiness and gave the best local recommendations.
The Monastery Estate Mountain Retreat quietly exceeded our expectations in the way only soulful places can. Highly recommended!

Sadly it is currently a building site. It is difficult to enjoy a place when all you can hear are noisy machines and workmen banging. My room wasn't ready when I arrived so I was made to move part way through my holiday. My terrace was overlooked by workmen on scaffolding so I couldn't relax outside. The room had poor sound proofing and every morning I was woken just before 7am to the noise of reception/cleaning staff arriving. The advertised daily spa service was closed for the whole time I was there. The advertised garden and bar do not exist. The advertised peaceful retreat does not exist. However, Maria and Joanna on reception were very friendly and welcoming and my room was kept spotlessly clean. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and there is a friendly taverna in the village.
