Surrounded by the White Mountains, Samaria Village is within a 10-minute walk from the entrance of Samaria Gorge at an altitude of 1200 metres. It offers spacious villas with fireplace, free Wi-Fi and a furnished balcony overlooking the countryside and the courtyard. A fully equipped kitchen with fridge, coffee machine and microwave is included in all villas at the Agriorodo. Each has a dining area, a living room with armchairs and sofa and an LCD satellite TV. Staff can offer information on the gorge. A café-restaurant serving Cretan dishes is within 800 metres. The town of Chania is 38 km away.

Immersed in nature

Excellent facility for lovers of pure and wild nature. Very nice and well equipped villa. Comfortable beds, parking, friendly host. You fall asleep and wake up to the sound of bells brought by goats. Beautiful experience. Nearby there are only two hotels with restaurants where you can dine.

Great choice

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and liked everything.
Spacious, new, well equipped, clean.
Quiet sleep assured!
Fireplace, bathtub, parking.
I definitely recommend as it’s worth its price.
(Only 3km to the “center” of Omalos and 1.5 to the Samaria trekking Parking place.

Large fully equipped 3 bedroom townhouse.

This place was large and had everything we needed. Even and oven and dishwasher. The central heating was nice at night when the temperature dropped and the tiles were cold.
The staff were very helpful. The location is a distance from any restaurants and there are no shops in Omalos so stock up before you come and you really need a car.
It is very peaceful with the only noise being the buses ferrying people up to the start of the Samarian Gorge and heards of sheep walking past every few hours jangling their bells and a baah baa here and a baa baah there!

The only place to stay in the Omalos Plateau but nice, clean and spacious!

The rooms were spacious with living, dinner and small kitchen area and 2 private bedrooms with a bath. We stayed 2 nights and you must bring your own food for meals since the closest restaurant is 1 mile from the Village or walk/drive up to the top of the road.

Lovely home away from home.

The rooms were spacious and clean. Two bedrooms, kitchen and fireplace. I almost wished it had been cold so I could have used the fireplace. The bed was very comfortable and there was a sofa and a big kitchen table. The surroundings are beautiful. From your terrace you can see the high mountains and the plain of Omalos. As others have written Omalos is remote and has no shops and it can be tricky to get the key. Make sure you have the right phone number and call the manager and tell him when you will come. If you feel you want to cook for yourself, bring food and drinks with you. This way you can have your tea and eggs on your own terrace in the morning while watching the sun rise over the mountains. There are restaurants so you don't have to cook. Samaria Village is a lovely place to stay for a few days. There are many walks you can do in the area, not only the Samaria gorge. The ascent of Gingilos is amazing. Beautiful views all the way. Ont the way up you can look down into the gorge and see Pchnes, the highest peak in Lefka Ori. At the saddle you look down in the the wild Tripiti gorge. At the top you can see all the way to Paleochora on a clear day. the Linoseli spring half way to the top makes this one of the easiest ways to reach a top which is over 2000 meters. You can walk up to the Kallergi refuge and from there to Melindaou, a peak which is also over 200 meters high. If you plan to stay here in the beginning of May you also have the opportunity to take part in a unique trail running event which lets you run on one of the now forbidden paths in the Samaria gorge. The Samaria Run, Organized by EOS Chanion. It usually takes place around the 7th of May. Google it and apply in advance. Samaria Village is conveniently situated just at the starting line for the race. Samaria village is a lovely place to stay. Well worth staying more than one night.
