"Vocalo"? See you again!!
The property is in a privileged location, close to Platy Gialos, which is conveniently accessible on foot. It is quiet with spacious, clean rooms, with a wonderful view of the sea, next to a beach with a little people and natural shade of strawberries. In a very close distance is a supermarket. The rooms are cleaned daily, and have complete equipment (air conditioning, refrigerator, WiFi, cooking stoves, glasses, knitter, etc.) for a comfortable stay. The owners Dimitris and Eleni are friendly and very helpful and take care, not only that there are water, juices, jam, butter, etc. in the refrigerator, but also leave on a daily basis on the table various homemade delicacies (chicken, pastries, cakes, etc.), made with care by Mrs. Rula, Elena's mother. Based on the above, Votsalo is an excellent choice for a quiet, relaxing holiday that you will definitely want to repeat in the future.

Peace, silence and spectacular views
Here is a magical place where you can find silence and peace as well as a wonderful view at dawn. The apartment is very clean, beautiful and equipped with all comforts. Every morning we found a sweet for breakfast and every day the cleaning was done. They assigned us a studio apartment with a huge terrace with an amazing view. Very kind host. Less than 10 minutes walk from the port and 2 minutes from the best-stocked market on the island. What more could you ask for? We will definitely be back!

The Pebble is super!
We went August 20, stayed 8 days in Votsalo and were delighted! Terrible service from everyone, cleaning every day, very nice rooms and a unique view of the incredible private beach of Pera Gyalos. Votsalo is in a very good location (Center - remote). Every day treats from the hands of Mrs. Eleni's mother. All amazing, just like Astypalaia. We will come back to the atmospheric island and to the excellent Votsalo! Well done and thank you! Hospitality from what you have left!

Perfect view!
Nice, clean and with a great view to the sea. The owner is a very sweet and welcoming lady - you even get a home made cake waiting for you in your room :) The room was very comfortable, spacious and at a fare price. The balcony overlooking the sea is a highlight. Located very close to the town of Astypalaia (you will still need a car if you want to visit the town and the beaches), it is in my opinion highly recommended for your visit to this beautiful island!

SOULLESS PLACE TO STAY FOR HOLIDAYS
Having booked via the internet, we found in Votsalo a little hotel outside of the town with a lovely sea view and impeccable cleanliness.
The room was spacious enough but entirely soulless. The sun pounds mercilessly against the balcony door, which allows no protection against the heat, due to lack of protective shutters. The hotel is right next to the road, adding to its soullessness by characteristics of a motel rather than a cosy place to spend relaxing holidays in. Want to enjoy a beer with a sea view? Wait until sunset, because there is no protective or cosy awning. The description that it is supposedly conveniently located in the centre is wrong. For the walk to the centre (i.e. to the old port) you need to walk about 15 minutes across a rather steep road.
Boat schedules require arrivals and departures of visitors to the island in the wee hours between 2 and 4 am. This makes the normal hotel checkout hour of 12.00 noon most inconvenient. My travel companion and I offered to pay for the additional night in order to have some rest before the 9-hours sea journey back to Piraeus. The hotel owner - who has other property on this island, including another hotel plus more rooms to let - did not make any genuine effort to accommodate us - although we had already stayed for five nights.
The home-made cookies by her friendly mother, who keeps the place spotlessly clean. sweetened the mornings, but departure will remain farewell and good-bye.
