A relaxing holiday with great food
If you're looking for a relaxing holiday and some proper time to switch off and destress, this hotel really delivers. That was exactly what we needed and we had a lovely stay.
We booked a superior swim-up room in the 401–412 block and would definitely choose this area again. The pool bar was just across from the swim-up pool, making it really convenient during the day, and in the evenings we enjoyed sitting on our terrace with a cocktail watching the entertainment from afar without being right in the middle of it.
Our room had a fridge, kettle with tea and coffee facilities, coffee machine and a small safe. One thing worth knowing is that storage space was limited, with only a wardrobe and hangers rather than drawers or shelving, so pack with that in mind if you're staying for a week or longer.
The pool area was lovely and the archway leading directly to the sandy beach gave the hotel a really relaxed atmosphere. There were plenty of options for both sun and shade around the pool which suited us perfectly as we burn easily. The beach loungers were extra charge but very comfortable.
The spa staff were very friendly and the massages were excellent if you fancy a treatment during your stay.
The staff throughout the hotel were warm, helpful and approachable, and the hotel had a genuinely family-run feel to it which we really appreciated and it was spotlessly clean.
The standout for us was the food. There was lots of choice at every meal and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. The dessert selection was especially good — the baklava and halva were amazing — and the restaurant layout worked well so it never felt too chaotic or queue-heavy even at busy times. Drinks were also very good, including the wine, beer and cocktails.
Overall, we feel this hotel represents good value. We had a wonderful relaxing holiday and would happily return.

Four Stars on Paper, Not in Practice
We stayed at Malia Bay Beach Hotel & Bungalows after booking through TUI and, unfortunately, our experience did not match what I would expect from a four-star resort.
We arrived around midnight after a long day of travelling. Upon entering our room, the first thing I noticed was the general condition of the room. There were visible stains and marks on the walls where insects appeared to have been squashed, dirty lampshades, marked furniture, and curtains that looked like they hadn’t been properly cleaned in some time.
The room immediately felt tired and poorly maintained.
I had specifically requested a high-floor room with a pool view when booking through the TUI app, but instead we were allocated a ground-floor bungalow-style room overlooking the neighbouring resort. While I understand requests cannot always be guaranteed, it was disappointing given that this was a holiday we had booked well in advance.
The bathroom was another issue. The shower appeared to be missing a door or screen entirely, and housekeeping had placed a rolled-up towel along the floor to prevent water flooding into the rest of the bathroom. Unfortunately, this wasn’t very effective, especially as the shower head sprayed water in multiple directions. It felt more like a temporary fix than something you would expect in a four-star hotel.
Other maintenance issues included air conditioning that leaked directly onto the drying rack outside, dirty curtains, marked bed frames, and general signs of wear throughout the room.
One of my biggest concerns was the hotel’s use of plastic straws. During our stay, many of these ended up discarded on the beach and partially buried in the sand. Not only did this create an unpleasant environment, but it also made entering and exiting the sea uncomfortable and potentially unsafe.
To be fair, there were positives. The food was consistently good throughout our stay, with plenty of choice available, and the all-inclusive drinks were enjoyable. The staff we encountered were friendly, and the grounds themselves were pleasant.
However, while the food and drinks were good, the accommodation fell well short of what I would expect from a four-star resort. The lack of cleanliness, maintenance issues, and overall room condition significantly impacted our stay. For me, this property feels much closer to a three-star hotel than a four-star one.

The perfect relaxing holiday
Well what can I say - from arrival to my last day (today) it has been more than I imagined. From the arrival, meeting Maria and Marianna to the lovely every day staff. The lovely Maria in the Lounge Bar every night always with a smile and happy greeting. The staff and lovely Maria in the food hall that keeps the area looking lovely and constantly smiles - All brilliant but as a Coeliac for over 15 years my worries are always being ill through eating Gluten so I cannot thank Chef and Yannis enough for looking after me.
Chef - who took time out of his busy schedule feeding 100’s of other holiday makers to show me, every meal, what was safe and I was surprised at how much choice I had and Yannis (Pastry Chef) again took time out of his busy schedule and made me the best fresh gluten free pizza I’ve had in 15 years and the best mango sorbet and other special deserts - thank you Chef and Yannis.
A lovely friendly resort and I would highly recommend to all and for all inclusive highly recommend to anyone who is coeliac. Thank you - Linda
