Special place
This is our third visit to Mare Monte in the last 16 months which indicates just how much we like this place. Clean, comfortable with lovely hosts. Anna and Kiki. 200m from beautiful beach and easy access to bus for Chora. (Bring a flashlight for the evening return walk)

A great stay
Wonderful, family run accommodations that are in an excellent location and are air conditioned and kept immaculately clean. The family couldn’t be nicer and will try to make your stay a pleasant experience. They offer a kitchen to give you the option of dining in or restaurant facilities are easily reached with a short walk.

If I could give 20 stars, I would!
If I could give this accommodation 20 stars, I would! I have been all over Greece and this is without a question the most comfortable, clean accommodation I have ever stayed at. The host is absolutely amazing. She is so nice, warm, her mum, who let me speak Greek with her (and I am not good, but I like to try), was also absolutely amazing. And the cleaning lady was so so nice and kind. Smiles, good day wishes each day I saw any of them. The host would come to greet us daily with cookies and pastry. I am blown away. The studio is so clean and new, the bathroom is really nice and quite modern. You have everything you need in these studios. The beach is just a jump away, so is the bus stop. The view from the balcony and from the front door is so relaxing and nice and when the waves are a bit higher, you can listen to them at night.

Lovely studios in peaceful location
Stayed 5 nights but could have stayed much longer. Lovely quiet apartments in spacious grounds set behind a hotel complex Small mini market in hotel grounds), 2 mins from Plaka beach. Katerina was lovely - very friendly & helpful (picked us up from the bus stop to save us dragging our luggage along the road!) and provided a selection of homemade sweet & savoury cakes & pies during our stay which were much appreciated! Kiki (Katerina’s sister) also met us on arrival & was also really friendly & helpful. We had a ground floor, garden view room which was compact & had a small balcony. The apartment was cleaned every day & if we have to mention a negative then a few more items of cutlery & crockery in the kitchen (and a kitchen bin!) would be good.
The apartments are at the last bus stop on the Plaka route & we used buses throughout our stay – they run every 30 mins into town. Plaka beach is superb, plenty of sunbeds with space for those who want to do their own thing! There are several tavernas close by – we loved 3 Brothers (dish called Monk is great) and Maria & Nikos – dined on the beach at both - but would definitely not recommend Maistrali (extremely limited dishes which were reheated in the microwave plus very poor service).
Would highly recommend Monte Mare for a peaceful, relaxing stay close to a fantastic beach

A 10 out of 10 for hospitality and location
We stayed with Katarina and Ana for 6 nights, and it was the making of our stay in Naxos . From the beginning of our email communications, help getting rental car( summer rental cars; excellent), offers of a ride from the ferry, to our departure a week later, they made us feel valued and cared for. Ana greeted us, and a tray of coffee and biscuits were delivered to our lovely clean studio shortly after our arrival . Every morning , if you book breakfast, there was a tray delivered with European style breakfast ,a smile and a chat. Just fantastic. Our studio was cleaned within an inch of its life every day, bed made with military precision,and thick clean towels. We had a little balcony with an awning for sun shelter. And a proper little clothes line for wet swim gear, or your laundry. Great when you are travelling for a while. The beach is about a 7 minute walk down the road, and it is a beautiful beach. Unfortunately the wind blew most of the time we were in Plaka and it was onto the beach. The location of mare Monte is perfect, as it is set well back off the dusty roads.
We would return and recommend in a heartbeat. And a bonus was the cost, best value stay we’ve had anywhere in Europe.
