Marvellous Maria

We booked a last minute deal with TUI for our late summer holiday and we were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Maria Eleni - We clearly had one of the upgraded rooms on the ground floor overlooking the Pool and it was lovely - super clean and with enough facilities for a weeks stay! The villa sits at the Top of Parga with super views a 15 minute walk brings you to some of the best restaurants in the whole resort - my suggestion walk down (road opposite) and check this out! We went in August and it was too busy in town for me but here on the road, which offers great views of Valtos, is the reason I will be returning! If you are unable to walk back the owner will come and get you for a fee!

Awful place to stay

Stayed here it’s run like a prison camp you can’t move sun-beds even though they aren’t positioned to be in the sun you can’t jump into the pool they have the family over and they take up the few sun-beds they have available if you order food you can’t sit on the sun-beds they only let you eat at the tables the bathroom is old with shower curtain and has mold we have not had hot water for 4 days they don’t give you fresh towels even if you put your towel in the shower tray they hang them back up wet through you have to pay extra for Aircon has to be cash also you have to pay cash for city tax on one day I ordered a coffee which was very small and expensive when I looked shocked at the amount the bar man was aggressive in his approach which made us feel uncomfortable for the rest of the stay the next day I ordered a different style of coffee but again very small and expensive but this time it was in a paper cup as you can’t take cups to your balcony even though we brought them straight back the bar man even challenged other guest over the issue I had myself about the coffee. this place is also out of town and not easily accessible to town unless your fit enough for a very long hard walk up hill and there is very limited taxis around so you will wait around a lot there is no local market to buy supplies unless you drive we mentioned it to locals we got friendly with and the family is known for not being very friendly and approachable I could go on and on but you get the point Do Not Waste You Money Going Here avoid best you can

Home from Home

Stayed for 2 weeks in September. First time in Parga and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. They now have a block of 2 bedroom apartments which are excellent. Look brand new, but are not, just very well maintained and appointed. We were made very welcome by Eleni and her husband who ran the bar and snack bar. Due to delays we were two hours late arriving, but he happily made pizza and sandwiches for us, his son, Stavros carried our cases up, and made sure we had everything that we needed. The position is great, with views from the balcony over the sea to Anti Paxos and Paxos and over the town. The walk down takes about 20 minutes, but is quite easy to both the town and Valtos beach. The only down side is the walk back up, but you can get a taxi for 5 euros which we did several times. Brilliant place to stay, away from noise and bustle - perfect.

Not really equipped for self catering

We didn't get off to the best start at Villa Maria. We were greeted by a hostess who 'welcomed' us by informing us that if we wanted air-con, which we'd need because it was August, that there was an extra €50 charge, and we'd need the safe, because we were situated on the ground floor and would be vulnerable to break ins, which was an extra €15 charge. Well, there was no alternative to the air con, i.e. a fan, in the room and it was 37° so we didn't feel we had much of choice other than to pay the extra for air con but declined the safe. I felt as if she was trying to scare us in to paying extra for the safe by telling us that we would be vulnerable to break ins, which was a concern from the off. There was also a €15 pp charge for us of the shuttle bus, which was useful as the hotel is up a huuuuge hill and ran regularly between 9am and 11pm. Although it was only a 20 minute walk to parga centre if that's your preference.
Our studio was supposed to be self catering but no facilities were provided to wash up, i.e. sponge, washing up liquid and a tea towel, and the daily housekeeping didn't do the washing up either. So it was difficult, if not impossible for coffee stained mugs etc, to clean up the kitchenette and it's utensils and crockery after use. So I don't think it meets the requirements to self cater.
The room was big and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The television often lost signal but that wasn't a huge issue for me personally. The stool at the vanity table was too low to see one's self in the mirror whilst sitting on it, rendering it somewhat useless. There was plenty of storage for clothes in the wardrobe provided with hangers.
As we had been warned upon arrival that ground floor apartments were vulnerable to burglary, we opted to keep the outside shutters closed whilst we were out to maximise security and, hopefully, deter potential thieves. So I was most disgruntled to come back to them having been opened by the housekeeper(s) whilst we were out. They also altered the settings on our air-con whilst we were out. If I have paid extra for a service, I expect it to be left as I have chosen to have it.
The pool area is well maintained and cleaned nearly every day (we stayed for 7 days and I think there was only one day where I didn't see the man cleaning the pool).
The overwhelming positive of this hotel is Dimitris. He was so friendly and well informed. He even took us on an extra trip further into the mountains to see the views and took us to a restaurant free of charge. He ran the shuttle service diligently and even made a special trip out to pick us up after our boat trip from Paxos returned late and we were cutting it fine to make it to a dinner reservation. His customer service is second to none. He really is a gem!

Amazing Place

My boyfriend and I visited The Maria Eleni Apartments on 14th August for a week and couldn’t ask for a better place to stay during our time in Parga. The service was impeccable, the people were lovely, and they were on hand to help wherever they can. There is a minibus service that runs to parga town and the beach for 15 euros each and it is well worth it. Dimitris is on time and does an amazing service.
The rooms were basic but cleaned everyday and were everything we needed. There is a shared balcony but we enjoyed this and getting to know people who were on holiday and getting tips on places to see/eat in parga.
There is air conditioning available for 50 euros for the week but it is really worth it. (Especially when it is still 30 degrees at 10pm).
The pool area was lovely and there was always sun beds available.
There is ice creams/pizzas/beer/ Greek salads available at the bar if you ever wanted it. There is also bottles of water to buy for 1.50 euros which is a really useful thing to have, as the closest supermarket is in the para centre.
Thank you for this lovely hotel and the lovely people for making our holiday to this beautiful place so memorable.
