Great staff in a modern/medieval hotel.
The staff of this hotel are wonderful people. I like to travel in the off-season but that sometimes results in surprises. Booking dot com sent me a vague message (or their AI bot sent me a machine-generate vague message) that made me think that the hotel staff knew about my reservation. The place was deserted when I arrived. A Greek family happened by and helped me with a phone call to the hotel. One of the staff drove to the hotel to let me in right away. Keep in mind the problem was booking dot com's fault and partly mine. The hotel staff made an extra effort to make up for the goof. I was the only guest so they gave me the best room with the little balcony you see in the picture for this hotel.
The location is great if you like walking. I was happy because I like to experience a place by walking through it. The best preserved and "most medieval" part of the old town in the south where this hotel is located. You really do step out of this hotel and step into the middle ages (best to ignore the motorcycles, though). ;-)
The room was clean and comfortable. Hot water for the shower, comfortable bed, power outlets, WiFi.
The building is very old -- they have done a great job of making it a modern hotel. However, this is not a good place for anyone with mobility problems (no elevator). You also need to move around very carefully in the bathroom as they do not have railings or handles for you to steady yourself when getting into or out of the bathtub/shower.
Taking a taxi from the airport, I found out that the Government of Rhodes does not allow taxis into the old town. The drive had to leave me at one of the gates into the old town. It was a 5 minute walk to the hotel from "The Red Door" gate. Keep this in mind if you travel with a lot of luggage. I travel light so this did not bother me.

A stop at a small hotel near the wall in Rhodes Town
We left the busy pedestrian shopping street close to the water and walked some of the side streets along the old wall. My wife needed a bathroom somewhat urgently so we stopped at Saint Michel and she asked if she could use their bathroom. The person showed her where it was and then we sat for awhile and had a couple of Latte's. One of the owners sat down at the piano in the foyer and played a couple of beautiful pieces. Turned out he was a professional pianist who had returned to Rhodes to help with the family hotel. He introduced another gentleman sitting at a table as the composer. It was a special moment in a very nice setting.

Disappointing Return Visit
A beautiful old building in a great location a walk on cobbled pathways to the main square with all the hustle and bustle plus a short flat walk to a couple of tavernas nearby . Also good for main port area
We eagerly retuned to this hotel after a stay 4 years ago and it would seem it is now run by new people and has definitely lost some of its charm.
Very disappointed after a full day out we returned early evening for drinks and asked for a snack but nothing on offer not even crisps but it was suggested we could get something from the small supermarket next door., we were then astonished that the young lady proceeded to close up and disappear this was only 8.30in the evening and not something you would
expect without even being asked if we required anything else.
Rooms were ok, quite dark but this is to be expected in such an old building. Shower cubicle was very small and door broken , coffee cups left unwashed and teabags not replenished so it would seem cleaning was a bit hit and miss.
We were eager to return as we had such a great stay previously but sadly this was a big disappointment and doubt we will stay again . Have to say the breakfast lady was smiling and helpful and the food offerings were ok she even helped with our cases when we were leaving

Small charming hotel in the ramparts
A very charming little hotel in the old town of Rhodes, near the ramparts.
Close to the port for ferries (you can walk there), the beaches of the city (convenient for a quick swim when arriving from the boat or plane).
The family that holds it is very nice, you can have a drink or a bite to eat.
While being inside the ramparts, it is really quiet, a little bit removed from the permanent crowd that wanders the streets.

Nice breakfast
I had nice breakfast when I was passing by on Rodes.Nice food,nice price and the lady from the hotel was really friendly.The breakfast option was eggs,bread,butter,jam,fruit salad and Greek yogurt, coffee and juice.Now I'm planning to come back to stay here for vacation.Nice location and the building it's beautiful and makes you travel in time.
