An Outstanding Stay in Rhodes – Exceptional Service from Start to Finish
My parents and I stayed at **Esperia Apartments in Rhodes Town from July 8th to July 17th** for a total of ten nights. We had a street-facing apartment on the third floor, and by the end of our stay we all agreed on one thing: this is an accommodation we would happily book again without any hesitation.
For us, a great holiday starts with a great location, and Esperia Apartments certainly delivers. The property is situated on the northern side of Rhodes Town, less than a five-minute walk from the beach. Within just a few minutes, you have access to countless restaurants, cafés, bars, supermarkets, bakeries, kiosks and shops. Everything you could possibly need during your holiday is literally around the corner.
The beautiful Medieval Old Town is also within easy walking distance, taking around twenty minutes on foot. We found this to be the perfect balance: close enough to visit whenever we wanted, while still being far enough away from the busiest tourist areas.
To keep this review fair and balanced, I also want to mention the only minor points that some guests may notice. Because Esperia Apartments is located right in the heart of Rhodes Town, you will occasionally hear some street noise in the evenings, particularly from young people enjoying the nightlife. In addition, the Mitsis Grand Hotel directly across the street is currently undergoing renovation work, meaning construction starts at around 7:00 a.m.
However, this was never an issue for us. We had already read about the renovation before booking, and it was one of the reasons why Esperia Apartments offered such excellent value compared to other accommodations in the same area. During the night, simply closing the balcony door reduced the outside noise significantly, allowing us to sleep comfortably. If you choose to stay in the centre of a lively city, a certain level of activity is to be expected, so we certainly wouldn't consider this a negative.
What actually surprised us was how incredibly quiet the apartment building itself was. Despite the complex appearing to be well occupied, we hardly heard any noise from other guests throughout our stay. There were no loud neighbours, no slamming doors and no disturbances in the corridors, which made for a very peaceful and relaxing experience.
Cleanliness throughout the property deserves special recognition. Our apartment was cleaned every single day, fresh towels were provided daily, and every time we returned after spending the day at the beach or exploring the city, everything looked spotless. The communal areas were equally well maintained, and even the pavement outside the building was cleaned every day. It may seem like a small detail, but it clearly reflects how much pride the staff take in maintaining the property.
The apartment itself was spacious and very comfortable. While the interior is perhaps not the most modern, everything was clean, well maintained and fully functional. Personally, we value cleanliness and comfort far more than fashionable décor.
The bathroom was spacious and practical, and the small kitchenette proved very useful for preparing simple meals or keeping drinks cold. The living area contained two sofa beds, both of which were surprisingly comfortable. The mattresses and pillows provided an excellent night's sleep. My parents stayed in the separate bedroom, where they also found the beds to be spacious and very comfortable. Storage space was more than sufficient, with plenty of wardrobe space for clothing and luggage.
One of our favourite features of the apartment was undoubtedly the large balcony. Being on the third floor gave us a lovely view over the surrounding streets of Rhodes Town. It was the perfect place to relax with a drink in the evening while enjoying the atmosphere of the city.
Another feature we really appreciated was that both the air conditioning and the in-room safe were included free of charge. The apartment had separate air conditioning units in both the bedroom and living room, which worked perfectly and cooled the rooms quickly during the hot Greek summer. The controls were straightforward to use, making it easy to maintain a comfortable temperature throughout our stay.
The complimentary safe was another welcome bonus. During a previous stay at Esperia Hotel, we had to pay extra for both the air conditioning and the safe, so having these amenities included at Esperia Apartments felt much more guest-friendly.
Breakfast was good overall. It was served as a buffet with a decent variety of bread, cold cuts, yoghurt, fruit, pastries and hot items. Of course, there is always room for a little more variety, and not everything was freshly prepared, but overall the quality was more than satisfactory. The staff constantly replenished the buffet, so there was never a shortage of food, even during the busiest periods.
If there is one aspect that truly sets Esperia Apartments apart from many other accommodations, it is without question the outstanding service.
From the moment we arrived, every member of staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Everyone we encountered was friendly, polite, approachable and eager to help. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job every day and were always cheerful whenever we met them.
The breakfast staff also deserve a great deal of credit. Even during the busy morning rush, everything remained well organised. Tables were cleared quickly, the buffet was continuously restocked and any requests were dealt with immediately. On the day of our departure, we had a long journey ahead of us, and the staff kindly allowed us to take a few sandwiches with us. It was a small gesture, but one that we genuinely appreciated.
Our highest praise, however, goes to the reception team.
Rarely have we experienced reception staff who were so professional, friendly and genuinely committed to ensuring guests have the best possible stay.
Both check-in and check-out were fast and efficient because several receptionists were usually on duty, meaning there was virtually never any waiting time.
During our stay, we experienced a small issue with the card holder that activates the electricity in the apartment. After reporting it at reception, a maintenance technician arrived at our apartment within just a few minutes and resolved the issue immediately. That level of responsiveness was genuinely impressive.
The reception staff impressed us even more shortly before our departure. There was some confusion regarding our airport transfer, and without us even having to ask, they immediately took the initiative. They contacted the transfer company themselves, investigated the situation thoroughly, kept us informed throughout the process and even offered to arrange a taxi if necessary. They were proactive, solution-oriented and genuinely cared about making sure everything worked out for us. That level of customer service is becoming increasingly rare and deserves special recognition.
Experiences like these are what transform a good holiday into one that you genuinely remember.
Looking back on our stay, it is not only the excellent location, the spacious apartment or the comfortable facilities that stand out. What we will remember most are the people. There are many good places to stay in Rhodes, but finding staff who are consistently this friendly, helpful, professional and genuinely caring is much less common.
We spent ten wonderful days at Esperia Apartments, and the combination of its excellent location, spacious and impeccably clean apartments, comfortable beds, complimentary air conditioning and safe, good breakfast and, above all, exceptional customer service made this one of the most enjoyable stays we have experienced.
If we return to Rhodes Town in the future, we already know exactly where we will stay. We would not hesitate to book Esperia Apartments again, and we can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located apartment with outstanding hospitality.

We couldn’t fault the staff or the accommodation both were excellent.
The only down side was the demolition and building of a new hotel across the road, if we had come for a beach holiday we probably wouldn’t have been inconvenienced, but ours was hospital visits and treatment so on our return to the room there wasn’t really an escape.

A nice welcome , a very nice room, a spacious balcony , an apartment-shaped apartment..The rooms did not have shampoo, shower gel etc but there was a market right below.One of the air conditioning in the room was not working I told the front desk but it did not fix.We didn't worry much yet.The evenings were cool...Our room was cleaned every day, refined..The employees are so friendly that people forget the negatives. Breakfast is open buffet.Get enough and nice.Very close to everywhere..We walked even to the ferry terminal in 20 minutes.There are beautiful restaurants and shops around...We had a lot of fun.We stayed in the apartment #207 on 10-11-12 September.Thank you for everything.
