Good value

Hotel owners at port waiting for people coming off ferrys ,there was one that caught my eye it had pool and looked spacious. When we got to the hotel I recognise the place we had stayed a few years ago in the same place . Room large two singles beds with kitchen which was a good size table chairs then a small but sufficient balcony . The view was lovely you could see the sea,
and the village which was 10 minute walk . The place was clean and tidy and very good value for money .The owners are very nice people they bought us up cake and figs ,on our departure they took us back to the port which was at 19:00 they let us keep room on till then . Thanks for a lovely stay .

not worth it

Nice big rooms but... old furniture(doors,windows,bathroom), poor equipment in the kitchen...
Nice pool but...poor bar(only coffees i think)
in general it was ok but too expensive for all these negative things. We went on August and i think if the price was 50 euros less i could have say "value for money"

Great pleace

We had an great stay at Smaragdi Apartments. Peacefull and quiet place in walking distance to the beach. This is the kindest people we have met at our stay i Greece. Thank you for our stay :-) clean and Nice room. Good bed and a nice pool to chill down in

Great studio in a lovely location

Smaragda and her husband kindly picked us up from the port. We were immediately impressed by the size and cleanloiness of the apartment, and also that Smaragda had paid attention to our request for evening sunshine on the balcony.
Although it was late July the apartments were still quiet so we had the luxury of the pool to ourselves on most days. The apartments are in a semi rural location on the edge of the village and this ensured peace and tranquility. Even so, it was only an easy 5 minute walk to the beach and centre of Finikas where there are a good number of tavernas and a few shops
Smaragda, her husband and her parents work hard to maintain the apartments and they will do anything they can to make visitors welcome. A nice touch was the huge bowl of fresh figs left for us by her father who had pcked them specially. Dad also very kindly got up early to take us to the port for a 6am ferry when we left!
The accommodation is as basic as you find all over Greece, but the hospitaility shown and the location make this one quite special.

Good for cheap vacations. Poor rooms, friendly atmosphere.

When I arrived in Syros close to the end of August I was supposed to stay in a camping. As I found out that there is no camping anymore in the island I was suddenly approached by a friendly man who offered me to stay in Smaragdi Apartments in Finikas (one of the finest beach areas of the island). The price was good (€ 25 per night for a double room), and even if I was alone I decided to accept it. The structure is 10/15 mins walking from Finikas village (5 mins with the bicycle I was travelling with), but there is a good Gyros place close to it. The room was quite poor, but also comfortable and perfect for sleeping. The family owning the place is friendly and smiling, even if they don't speak a lot of English. The pool area (where the free WiFi works better) is clean and useful. I would recommend this place for young couples and groups.
