Mato Hotel

Skiathos, August 2026. We stayed at the B&B Mato Hotel. The experience was truly positive. Impeccably clean. The breakfast was well-stocked and served with attention and courtesy. But the real highlight was the owner, Fofi, who gave us a fantastic welcome. Always available, smiling, and welcoming. Her property immerses you in a vintage atmosphere filled with books and antiques, located in the heart of the historic center, just steps from the town center and the port. I highly recommend Mato Hotel and meeting the wonderful Fofi!

+ Good location, close to the town centre. Warm welcome by the host.
- We wish we would have read the Google reviews (3.6/5) before booking:
Strong cat urine smell, we were not able to use the balcony.
Cold cigarette smell in the common areas and bedroom (mixed with cleaning product smell)
Old bathroom (door wasn't closing, clogged faucet)
-/+ breakfast was ok, diversed but quite industrial (jams, cakes, bread, ...)

The temple of the cat.

Very inconvenient to reach on foot. Actually I had chosen it because it was close to the port 500m away but all stairs and uphill which with luggage is not the best! The hotel is furnished with antique furniture, the host was very kind and took care of providing us with a minimum of breakfast because we were leaving early the next morning, but you must not be afraid of the cats that reign supreme in the garden! I would call it the temple of the cat!

Perfect stay at holel Mato

Some journeys are remembered for the places we visit, while others stay in our hearts because of the people we meet. Our time in Skiathos will always be remembered because of the wonderful people we had the privilege of meeting.
A heartfelt thank you to dear Fofi and wonderful Rena for your genuine kindness, warmth, and exceptional hospitality. You made us feel not like guests, but like family, and that is something we will never forget.
Every breakfast was delicious and prepared with so much care, the view from our room was absolutely breathtaking, and your lovely cats made every day even more special.
We are leaving with beautiful memories and hearts full of gratitude. Thank you for making our stay so unforgettable. We hope to return one day, because some places are worth visiting again not only for their beauty, but for the people who make them feel like home.

Perfect spot ... 300 yards from the old port .... if you dont like cats its not for you ... we had 11 days and loved it
