Simple, clean and comfortable.

I have been using the Rex Hotel twice a year now for over 10 years. Recently, I was allocated a room on the 6th floor which was easy to reach by lift and no noises from overhead. The recently refurbished rooms have TV, Fridge with ice compartment, air conditioning and en-suite shower. The Rex is situated across Monastiriou Str from Thessaloniki train station where you can leave bulky items in lockers if you don’t need to drag them across the road.

Close to railway station

I stayed here for one night in July. The location in walking distance to the railway station is perfect, if you are arriving late by train (as I did). The lobby was a bit run-down and during check-in I felt not very comfortable, as I was unsure, if it was a good idea to book this hotel. But the room was in much better shape, clean and with modern furniture. So overall it was o.k. to stay here.

Value for money

Nice reception staff, easy check in. Not the smartest hotel, small basic room but great value for money and best location for the station. We hopped in a taxi to get to the main drag for the football and bars and that was great. Café bar next door with good beer and friendly. Newsagent/drinks shop next door also. Would recommend as a cheap no frills base.

Fair price fair location!!!

The hotel is located about 5 minute drive from the city centre, not in the nicest of areas but for the price and location me and my girlfriend couldnt really complain. I asked the person in reception to allow us to view the room before hand for which he politely agreed to it. I would recomend it if you are looking for something cheap and decent to spend the night, this is based on our own experience.
The hotel smells of cigarrate through out, however as non smokers it wasnt something that bothered us.

Acceptable Digs

Simple, clean, hot water, slightly threadbare, but for ~ 30 euro it's an acceptable deal. On the main drag, close to the train/bus station. There's a 24 hr convenience store on the street right next door.
