Lovely island stay

First time on Guernsey made all the more enjoyable by our stay at La Chene.
Excellent hosts, clean, comfortable rooms. Varied choice for breakfast.

Le Chêne is probably one of the best places I have stayed in for many a long time.

Le Chêne is probably one of the best places I have stayed in for many a long time. Firstly, the building itself is quite inspiring as you walk into the courtyard. Then as you enter reception you are greeted by either Niek or Beatrice, who immediately make you welcome. The rooms are very clean and tidy, and the bed is uber comfortable! Outside at the rear of the premises you are treated to a vista of almost perfection with a garden that resembles a luxury home, including a hot tub to relax in after a day out. Unusually for a B & B there is a bar that serves drinks from 3pm until 9pm, so hey ho, another star there! Now to the breakfast. Well, until you've actually stayed it's difficult to express the standard of these. The breakfast menu is quite different, and each choice from full english to the poached egg with avocado is just delightful. To cap it all, the staff are very friendly and polite and go out of there way to assist. Another plus for me was the facility to hire an e-bike which I took advantage of and I set off each day to cycle the 'Routtes Tranquille' (traffic free lanes) The location of Le Chêne is also ideal, being only a 10 min walk from the airport. I will be back again next year I hope.

Appalling. Do not waste your holiday time in Guernsey in this dreadful hotel.

Do NOT believe the marketing for this place. Awful. No privacy, noisy (as there is no ceiling insulation) and the whole place stinks of disinfectant. NOT dog friendly as you have to walk down the main road because the garden is reserved for people looking in your window as they get back to the hotel from drinking beer in the hot tub! We booked for a three night stay and left after one night. No apology from the owner and no offer of compensation. Shame really as the Dutch are normally such reasonable hoteliers.

Yeah, good!

Everything you can expect from a b&b. The hosts are very caring, the staff too. Room for three very spacious.
The English breakfast is amazing with a special mention for the dishes prepared avocado/egg, salmon/egg or the mustard madam croque! Only sausage/pea could be improved in textures.
Really a shame to leave this little paradise in an island so British.
