St Martins

Again a lovely experience. We go as 2 single ladies and always require 2 bedrooms which is getting quite difficult as it's assumed '2' always wants a double bed . It's a pity the other2 bed cottage has a bunk and not a single bed.

A gorgeous cottage and peace and quiet in a beautiful location.

We stayed at this beautiful location from 24 April to 1 May. Although we have visited Guernsey on many occasions and always stayed in hotels, this time we chose self catering. We are so glad we did. The cottage was divine, fully equipped with everything we needed. We loved hearing the church bells from the nearby St Martin Church. It just added to the charm of the location. If you are not driving the bus stop is a short walk away and will take you to St Peter Port, the stop is just outside the Pharmacy. The Coop supermarket and M and S are nearby. So many wonderful beaches including our favourite Fermain Bay which has its own beach cafe. We didn't eat out in the evening but cooked our own meals in the cottage. We both want to return as soon as we can. Missing the cottage and the peace and quiet of the location so much.

A peaceful retreat

Rose Cottage No 3
The property is in a beautiful area of St Martins. It is very well equipped , spacious and comfortable. Minor problems were addressed immediately and resolved. A lovely touch was the Guernsey butter and Gauche, plus milk etc. Our only issues were the noises from the property above, especially over the bedroom, voices, bathroom gurgling etc and the shower room positioned off of the kitchen. Minor inconveniences. Highly recommend.

Great location from which to enjoy a Guernsey holiday.

We loved this charming self catering cottage, Le Douit No.3, and it is an excellent base from which to explore Guernsey, close to amenities and bus routes and we felt was good value. The cottage's kitchen and bathroom are modernised and well equipped. The only issue was a very noisy toilet cistern of the adjacent accommodation that seemed to be next to the head of our bed and woke us up at night. Enjoyed our stay and would come again, especially if plumbing noise is resolved!

Great location.

Pretty village and good transport links. We had a very lukewarm welcome on arrival. There was very old fashioned and tired decor in the property, although clean. The bathroom was down a set hazardous stairs from the bedrooms, not ideal in the middle of the night. Wouldn’t go back for that reason and the outdoor space wasn’t very inviting.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you thought the decor not to your liking. With a number of properties over the island we use the same neutral paint colour, sofas etc so we dispute it being old fashioned. We are also sorry you had difficulty with the stairs. They are a standard stair case with rails and the first time anyone has commented on them in the 50 years of ownership. When booking all details are mentioned regarding each properties layout with floor plan and it shows the bathroom is on a different floor to bedrooms. There is a seating area next to the barn which others have enjoyed.
