Excellent location with beautiful views of the sea!
The apartment was spacious and clean! The AC was definitely appreciated by all after exploring the island during the day. Irena was very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating when we needed to arrive a bit earlier than the check-in time. Definitely recommend this location for anyone wanting to stay in Hvar!

Irena apartment Hvar - beware of booking these apartments
Booked via booking.com 2 bed with sea view apartment 8 months before trip, payment took 6-8 weeks before. Week before arrival mess from Irena saying apartment no longer available and offered her friends apartment. Arrived to a dirty tired 1 bed with ani inappropriate sofa bed in the lounge, no sea view. Didn't take any passport details or respond to messages after initially seeing her. If apartment wasnt available why take the money, couldn't cancel due to money already taken - left with no option. Didn't believe the reasons and unable to put a review on booking.com as classed as cancelled/no-show. A previous review experienced the same issue.

Disappointing arrival
I had made a booking at Irena's Hvar apartment for 2 nights in June 2011. On arrival, she told me that she was not aware of the booking. I showed her the emails (where she had even confirmed the booking), but she still said that she had nothing available, but would arrange accommodation near her house, which she did. However, I have no way of knowing whether this accommodation was comparable in standard to Irena's apartment, which I never saw. Nor did I have a chance to experience the cooking of her husband which I had looked forward to.
A bad impression was immediately created in my mind. It was clear that Irena had received a potential booking from a large group and had merely shifted me out of her apartment to make room for this group. I would advise other future single travellers to be aware of this as this could happen to them to.
In the previous review that I did on Apartment Irena, the owner responded by saying that I had not paid a deposit, which was her reason for not accommodating me at her apartment. In this amended review, I would like it known to all that the owner NEVER asked me for a deposit in all our correspondence prior to my arrival in Hvar. I stick by my story that she moved me, a single traveller, out of her apartment in order to accommodate a large group.

Beautiful apartment in decent location
My daughter and I stayed in an upstairs apartment for 2 nights. It was spacious, well equipped for cooking, quiet and had a lovely balcony with a great view. It took about 15-20 minutes to walk to the center of town. This was OK, as we like to walk, but be aware it can be very hot and the walk back from town is mostly uphill. As others have said, the owner gave us rides to and from the ferry, which was very nice. The good thing is that the location is just a couple minutes from a path that goes down (steeply) to a beautiful beach. Note that if the weather isn't too hot, there is a nice trail that goes from that beach over to another town. It was way too hot to do that in July, but I was back in Hvar in September and it was a lovely thing to walk to the other town, have lunch, and walk back. The only negative really about the apartment was that the second sleeping area (not really a bedroom; just a room off the living room and no closet) had window shades that did not adequately block out the sun, so my daughter slept with me in the bedroom.

Good 3* apartments
Irena, the owner kindly picked us up from Ferry (and dropped us off) and she goes out of her way to make sure you have an enjoyable stay. We had a seaview room which, (whilst fairly small) had everything we needed. Some of the other apartments looked huge Though. She made some excellent recommendations.
Be warned that to get these amazing sea views you do have to climb a fairly steep hill to get to the apartments. Anyone who has walking difficulties would struggle. The balcony has a double glazed door, along with a further shutter style door which acts as great soundproofing. We stayed here for 3 nights and slept well,each night.
The room was clean and comfortable and I would recommend these apartments. Also a massive thumbs up to Irena who is a lovely lady.
