Shocking

After reading reviews?? Booked in for two nights, two rooms, as a party of two adults and two teenagers. On arriving, somewhat tired after a four hour drive, were surprised to find locked gates and a seemingly empty property. Tried and tried to contact owner on details provided with no success. On seeing our distress a neighbour tried to assist us by contacting the owner who said that her son 'Marco' would arrive within 20 minutes to welcome us. After a further two hours (we had now been there three!) and many more attempts at making contact it became clear that nobody was going to come. The time now is about 8pm, it is getting dark, and we are in a remote rural area.
After many many attempts (thank the lord for iPhones !) we managed to contact a family guesthouse who, on explaining our plight, said that they would try to help but they like all other accomodation in the area were pushed for space due to local events.
We arrived around 9.30pm and the place was understandably quiet as things had wound down for the evening. All that was available was one twin room for one night but it was offered if of any use - we accepted gratefully and said goodnight. Within minutes lights came on at the outside dining area and we were ushered across to find meats, cheese, vegetables, bread, cold drinks, local wine, you name it, all laid out for us. After about half an hour Nicholas (the son) told us that his parents had gone to prepare his own personal living space for us as it would better suit our needs!
This obviously caused us some embarrassment and we tried to decline but they were insistent. They showed us the accommodation, where food and drink was kept telling us to help ourselves if needed, and said goodnight!
Talk about restoring faith in human nature - these people are as good as they get. We made some good friends and stayed an extra night.
The name of this accommodation is the Bakine carolije in the town of Karnac and I highly recommend.
Final word on the Majhen fiasco.
On contacting Booking.com to complain, received reply stating that 'Marco' claimed he was there to meet us but we were drunk and on drugs demanding that we be let in because we had connections with the royal family!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is also trying to claim £75 cancellation fee.
Make your own choice.
