Great location, poor stay
Stayed here for a few nights during my summer trip round Croatia. The owner was very kind in agreeing to wait up for me as my flight was arriving late. He led me up a long, narrow, spiral metal staircase to my room. I was booked in to stay in a '4-person room' which consisted of 4 bunk beds and a table. AS I was on my own this was OK, but I cannot imagine 4 people sharing this tiny space. The owner asked for payment in advance which I hadn't prepared for and seemed a bit unsure of what price/how many nights to charge me for. He was kind in providing me with a map and a recommendation for a seafood buffet restaurant nearby.
As the room was next to the communal bathroom I could hear in all detail every time someone went to the toilet or had a shower. Equally it was impossible to move quietly up and down the spiral staircase so was very aware of any time people were coming and going. The mattresses and pillows were thin and I didn't have good sleep for the duration of my stay. In addition the whole place had a distinct smell of cigarettes and sweat.
The big positive was the very central location, approximately 5 mins walk from the centre of Split and the waterfront. Another nice touch was the little washing line in the windows of the room.
Overall a disappointing and unpleasant stay.

Great Location! Standard everything else
Stayed here for 4 days, we got the top floor with the balcony overlooking split, was beautiful. The value for money was great when we considered how close we were to everything. We were happy with the overall quality of our room and the air con was so good, could have been a little cleaner, the spiral staircase is a little narrow for carrying bags and there being only one bathroom for the entire house is frustrating. Plus there is no window or vent in that bathroom so all heat and smells are trapped in which can be a little unpleasant haha. But other than that we were happy with our stay. Would recommend for young people on a budget definately.

Turned away at the door
Didn't actually get to stay here as we were turned away at the door. They claimed there was a mistake with my booking and that the fault lay with booking.com They also claimed to have tried to contact me the day before but couldn't get through. Considering the fact they would know by my address through the booking website and could see that that I am not Croatian, ringing me was probably a bit naive due to the cost of Data Roaming. However an email the night before would have been preferable rather than a half hour before I turned up at the house. I'm very suspicious about how they came about this 'mix up' and i certainly do not think it was booking.com's fault
Was then forced out into the 33 degree heat having walked 20 minutes to get there. Managed to get a different hotel.
