Cheating

I had a very disappointing experience at The Samilton Hotel, Kolkata, regarding billing transparency. Despite repeated requests, I was not provided with a proper invoice for the services availed.
The hotel charges GST and collects payment using temporary slips but does not issue an authorized GST invoice. This is highly concerning and reflects a serious lack of transparency in their billing practices.
Not providing proper GST invoices after collecting tax from customers raises questions about compliance with tax regulations. As a customer, this is unacceptable, especially when valid documentation is required.
I strongly urge the management to address this issue immediately and ensure that proper GST invoices are issued to all guests.
I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and improves its processes.

Stayed 9 nights there in February 2026. The 3* hotel is good value for money and provided very comfortable beds in large rooms with fans and air conditioning. The bathrooms are typically Indian but fully functional.
The breakfast provided in Pepper Chino restaurant is superb, with a wide range of options including tea/coffee/juice, fruit, toast, Indian dishes and omelettes, and the Cloud Tavern on the top floor is an ideal place to have an evening meal and a beer or wine. In addition, we found the staff are all extremely helpful.
The acid test is would I stay there again? Absolutely I would, without any hesitation!
