A Tale of Two Stays: Exceptional Hospitality Overshadowed by Disastrous Dining

The Bad: Avoid the Food (1/5)
The dining experience was incredibly disappointing. The buffet was limited and stale, the breakfast chole was undercooked, and the Pan-Asian dinner was tasteless, served cold, and overpriced for the small portions. Even ordering was a hassle with repeatedly dropped calls, and the food took over an hour to arrive despite ordering directly through the Restaurant Manager, Mr. Angnol. I had to leave my dinner unfinished.
The Good: Stellar Service (5/5)
The housekeeping and front office teams saved this stay. Rohan at the front desk was highly efficient with room allocation, and the housekeeping team was incredibly polite and prompt.
Special Thanks to Mr. Ali
The absolute highlight was Mr. Ali. He welcomed me personally at check-in to ensure I felt at home. When I requested a hard pillow that the hotel didn't have, he went above and beyond to have his tailor custom-make one for me. Outstanding hospitality and leadership!

Nice hotel. Good experience.

I stayed work related at the hotel and i found it very nice place plus the restaurant meals were tasty and thanks to Sadik he was very friendly and helpful with choosing the meal and guiding around the hotel areas.
Will definitely return.

Le Royal Méridien Chennai – Exceptional Hospitality and Outstanding Value

Le Royal Méridien Chennai was an absolutely superb hotel to stay in and offered excellent value for money. From the moment you arrive, you're welcomed by a stunning entrance area that creates a wonderful first impression. The hotel itself is beautiful, with immaculate gardens, a sparkling clean swimming pool, and excellent facilities throughout. The on-site gym is also a fantastic bonus for those wanting to keep up with their fitness routine while travelling.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The air conditioning is an absolute necessity in the Indian climate and worked perfectly, while the bar fridge and tea and coffee station were thoughtful additions that made the room even more convenient. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the soft, quality linen ensured a great night's sleep.
Breakfast each morning was another highlight, with an excellent buffet offering a wide variety of delicious options to suit every taste.
As impressive as the hotel itself is, what truly sets Le Royal Méridien Chennai apart is its staff. Without a doubt, they are the friendliest, most welcoming, and most accommodating hotel staff I have encountered throughout all of my international travels. Every interaction was met with genuine warmth, professionalism, and a willingness to go above and beyond to ensure guests have a wonderful experience.
Even if the hotel itself wasn't exceptional—which it most certainly is—the outstanding service alone would be enough to make me want to return time and time again. The fact that the hotel is also beautiful, comfortable, and exceptionally well maintained simply makes the experience even more memorable.
If you're looking for accommodation in the Chennai area, I cannot recommend Le Royal Méridien highly enough. It combines outstanding hospitality, excellent facilities, and exceptional value for money, and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Shabby Marriot

The lobby is the only place with a bit of upkeep. Overall a Run down shabby place with rooms that have stains on doors, floors, tables with burn marks and gouged out surfaces. The lounge had fruits with mold growing , terrible lounge breakfast that was laid with small bits only for tickmark and staff that had no clue of service. Upon informing the manager on Duty at reception Mr Nikhil Sharma he appeared very unperturbed by the information. Stated he has informed the “responsible”F&B manager ( means this is someone elses issue and he is least bothered about it.
Being a platinum Marriot member this kind of attitude was even more difficult to understand knowing fully well how the brand upholds its reputation to high standards.
How is this even a Marriot hotel is a mystery. Checkin at your own risk to experience 1926 in 2026
