The home away from home
But staff is very hospitable. The owner, Mr. Maru himself is present at the property and takes care of all your needs. For food as well, they prepared fresh meals for me as I’m allergic to chillies and can’t tolerate spices. Best non spicy Rajasthani food that I could ever taste.
Room sizes are also nice given the cost. Bathrooms are clean. Autos are available at a call. And the distance to fort is quite walkable.

Exceptional Stay and Warm Hospitality at Helsinki House, Jaisalmer!
Right from the time of booking, everything was smooth and hassle-free. I had been in touch with Maru ji, the owner of the property, since August, and he was incredibly kind, responsive, and helpful. He patiently answered all my queries before confirming our bookings for both Helsinki Desert Camp, Sam, and Helsinki House, Jaisalmer.
The hospitality during our stay was truly outstanding. The rooms were clean, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable for our family. The rooftop restaurant offered a mesmerizing view of the Jaisalmer Fort, especially at sunset, and the food was delicious throughout.
A special mention to Maru ji, who went the extra mile to make our stay convenient — he arranged a rickshaw and a knowledgeable guide for us to visit the Jaisalmer Fort and Patwon ki Haveli directly from the hotel. It was, once again, a seamless and hassle-free experience.
Having already stayed at Helsinki Desert Camp before arriving at the hotel, we truly appreciated the same high standards of care, comfort, and attention to detail in both places.
Overall, our experience with Helsinki House and their desert camp was exceptional. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Jaisalmer and looking for genuine hospitality, comfort, and memorable experiences.

Third visit over a decade and it's as lovely as ever
The hotel has changed significantly since my last visit. The foyer area has been redesigned and is a truly lovely welcoming space.
Our spacious room overlooked the lake (a bit of water this time as apparently there were unprecedented floods late last year) The Rajhastani furnishings were colourful and tasteful. The bathroom has obviously been remodelled since last visit- it was modern and sleek; toilets and basin were modern in design. Lots of room.
We ate at the rooftop restaurant. We found that this was the best food we'd had since arriving in India. There were salad /vegetable options as well traditional food and the cook prepared anything that we wanted. Unfortunately just as we arrived I came down with a flu virus and had to spend time in bed. The wonderful management (Mr Maru) organised for the BEST chicken spicy soup to my room on several occasions.
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough_ everyone was helpful. The hotel was very clean and efficiently run- but it was really the staff that made our return stay such a delight.
Since our first visit a decade ago many many more hotels have sprung up- Jaisalmer seems to have become a tourist mecca. So if you are heading to Jaisalmer this really is a great choice to stay.
