Leh and Ladakh Kesari Tour
I stayed at this hotel accommodation as a part of the Kesari Tours Group . The tour was a one week tour of Leh and Ladakh. The Indigo flight from Mumbai to Leh was excellent. The Kesari Tours Innova and Innova type vehicles were excellent. The local drivers were very knowledgeable . The Choksor Hotel provided good arrangements for accommodation and dining. The food served by Kesari Tours was of very good quality. However acclimatisation to high altitude affects respiration and digestion. Small meals are recommended. The first day includes rest and acclimatisation. The hotel does not have an elevator so request ground level accommodation if you are experiencing breathlessness. Walk and climb steps gradually and slowly. Leh is very cold even in summer months. There are no heaters or bukharis or bonfires . Alcohol is not recommended to keep warm. The only way to tolerate low temperatures of 5degree centigrade is layers of clothing. The blankets provided by the hotel are good. The evening cultural program by the local dance troupe of Leh is organised at the hotel and the arrangements are very good. It is amazing to see the dancers singing and dancing gracefully without losing a breath. Hindi is spoken by most people and the solidarity with the country of India is very obvious. Mystical Leh is known for the Buddhist culture and monasteries . The day tour of Leh arranged by Kesari Tours covers the Leh palace, the Buddhist Stupa , the Indian Army Hall of Fame , the gurudwara and many local tourist attractions. The highlight is the Indus Rivet and valley. There are many other sightseeing locations within 20 kms of Leh. If you have medical issues like altitude sickness or motion sickness you may not be able to join the rest of the tour group to higher and colder altitudes including the Khardung Pass and the Pangong Lake. I stayed back at Leh for the reason of motion sickness associated with winding roads and extensive six hours travel. However the stay in Leh is pleasant enough with plenty of sightseeing opportunities. I would next time discuss with Kesari Tours the request to arrange the company vehicle and driver to visit and revisit Leh attractions within the 25 kms range. The Kesari Tours vehicles were of very good quality. The return flight from Leh to Mumbai was superb. A window seat provides an aerial view of the snow capped Himalayan mountain ranges. Leh is an excellent vacation destination to beat the summer heat in the rest of India. However be prepared with layers of thermals and woollens. I did not find acclimatisation in Leh difficult. However Kesari Tours is well equipped to handle tourist difficulties as is my personal opinion. Know and travel within your physical limitations . Ask for help and vehicle transportation as required. Enjoy local food arranged by Kesari Tours for an evening dinner out. It is excellent. Enjoy mystical Leh as a memorable travel experience to a wonderful Indian Himalayan destination.
