Best hotel in varanasi
They made our stay very comfortable and memorable... outstanding experience. The hotel was clean, comfortable,and beautiful maintained. The staff was welcoming professional,and always ready to help.They have a rooftop restaurant were they serve delicious food and some amazing coffee the overall service exceeded my expectations and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for excellent hospitality.Looking forward to visiting again

Terrifying place
Upon our arrival, they charge us the two nights booked. We arrive in the room and the bathroom and sheets were completely dirty. We point out the problem and they change our rooms. In the new room the sheets, towels and floors were dirty; moreover, the sheets seemed not to have been changed at all. We call, change our sheets in front and bring us more towels. The sheets were fine, the towels were still dirty. This for two more times: in the end, we used our towels. The floor was cleaned to the carlona and in fact the dirt remained. The shower also had no hot water and leaked, flooding the floor. In the evening we eat at the hotel restaurant and the next day we are sick (vomiting and diarrhea) and we practically lose a day. Breakfast practically nonexistent (fruit: banana and papaya, toast with jam, cereal) with burnt pancakes. There is no discount and, moreover, having booked with Booking, we had the discount on food and drink that was made only at our request on the last receipt. Frequent blackouts and fairly rude staff. I advise against it with all my heart.

Disappointing stay with serious hygiene issues
Upon arrival, we were asked to pay for both nights in advance. When we entered the room, the bathroom and bed sheets were completely dirty. We reported the issue and were moved to another room. However, in the new room, the sheets, towels and floors were also dirty, and the bed sheets did not seem to have been changed at all.
We called again and they changed the sheets in front of us and brought new towels. The sheets were fine, but the towels were still dirty. This happened two more times and in the end we had to use our own towels. The floor was cleaned very superficially and the dirt was still clearly visible.
Additionally, the shower had no hot water and was leaking, flooding the bathroom floor.
That evening we ate at the hotel restaurant and the next day we both got sick, with vomiting and diarrhea, losing almost an entire day. Breakfast was very poor, only banana and papaya, toast with jam and cereal, and the pancakes were burnt.
No discount was offered and despite having a Booking.com deal that included a discount on food and drinks, it was only applied after we specifically requested it on the final bill.
There were frequent power outages and the staff was quite rude.
I would strongly not recommend this place.

Poor damage management and lack of professionalism
I give the minimum grade for a stay that, despite the potential, turned out to be a management nightmare. The room that gave us the Sugar Stars Inn hotel was nice in itself, the structure of the hotel overall was not bad except for the cleanliness a little 'lack. Bed linen and towels were stained and the restaurant floor constantly dirty. I would have glossed over these aspects had it not been for the disgraceful handling of a technical incident which led to such a low rating. On the second day, a power surge in the hotel network burned two original Apple chargers (50€ damage, as well as demagnetizing an Italian SIM card – I realized the damage of the sim once I returned to Italy, since at that time I was using an esim). Smoke came out of the socket and luck would have it that the phone and the charging airpods were not damaged in turn (the chargers did their duty and sacrificed themselves instead of the devices that were charging). What was the hotel’s response when we asked for compensation? They tried to liquidate us with an Indian charger, useless for us because in three days we would return to Italy and because we had two power banks plus a third reserve charger (and then we had no intention of attaching the phones directly to the sockets again, since even on the third day these power surges were repeated). After being a bit vague and only following our insistence on getting an answer, the hotel refused to refund or revert our extras (about €25 between a lunch and a gang trip booked through them), claiming that the power surges were not their responsibility but the responsibility of the city network. The manager has gone off the grid (we only spoke to one of his employees apparently). When I tried for the second time to ask to speak to the manager via call from the room phone, the reception hung up on me. A sloppy, unprofessional attitude. After announcing that I would give them a bad review and paying the bill (on which they gave us a “discount” of 2 euros), we decide (since it was the last night and since we would have to wake up the next day at 5 am to leave) to eat at the restaurant next to the hotel. As soon as we sat down we discovered that that place was also managed by the Hotel. At that point, a little late and perhaps because of my unconcealed indignation at the treatment received, the hotel guy comes along and tells us that dinner was on offer. The value of the dinner, for two, was about 5-6 euros total (we are well below the damage received, so it is called “contentino”). In conclusion, if there had not been this problem of the chargers and if they had handled it properly I would certainly have given full marks to a structure that overall, in my humble opinion, is worth 3.5 out of 5 (I would have given a 5 to encourage them anyway because the basic room was nice and because you do not eat badly in the restaurant, overlooking the poor cleanliness of the sheets, towels and the floor of the restaurant that I repeat was very dirty). Having undergone this treatment, in addition to having risked losing a 600 euro phone and 200 euro headphones that eventually no one would have compensated me since there is also attached to 25 euro bill to be settled, I can not help but give this bad review, hoping that the director and not only read it from beginning to end.

Strong disruption and €50 damage
The hotel is located outside the center of Varanasi, but with about 100 rupees of tuk tuk you can easily reach the Ghats. The room was clean and breakfast, served in the restaurant on the floor, acceptable.
Unfortunately, during our stay we had an unpleasant episode: there were several blackouts in the property and one, in particular, irreparably damaged our two iPhone adapters, for a total value of about 50€. Fortunately, the phones, worth about 600€ each, were not damaged because the chargers performed their function. But what would have happened if it hadn't?
We reported the incident at the reception, asking for a refund or at least a reduction of the final bill. Considering that on the same day we had spent 2,000 rupees for an hour on the Ganges boat organized by the hotel, it would have taken a simple gesture — even just a recognition of about 20€ — to turn this experience into a positive review.
Instead, the management by the facility was disappointing: the staff took a rigid stance and, despite our request to speak directly to the manager, the latter never showed up to clarify the situation.
In the end, we were given a discount of just €2, along with a non-original charger (bought on their own initiative and can only be used in India) and a dinner worth about €6 in an adjacent restaurant. Compensation that is clearly insufficient in relation to the damage suffered.
In conclusion, although the structure itself is ok, this episode — and especially the “confusing” subsequent management — has negatively compromised our experience. The fact remains that we had to personally incur a cost of 50€ to replace the damaged power supplies.
