Don't book La Courtyard Hotel

We were group of 12 in 4 rooms, initially booked for 3N-4D, but wanted to cancel as soon as we reached. Only because we didn't get another hotel in time, stayed for 2 nights and checked out 1 day early, forefoing booking amount. What we encountered - 1. No hot water before 9am (it's available later or in the evening) 2. Transparent windows with basic curtain opening in passage affecting privacy 3. Buffet breakfast but ordered from outside, same every day 4. A few rooms almost along the roadside 5. No lift 6. Staff not proactive to pick luggage 7. Bathroom fixtures in bad condition 8. One of my friend's bag was opened during room cleaning. The room price was about 4000 per day which is not worth. The only positive is it's 10 min walk from Serenity Beach and they provided extra mattress for free.

Positives
1)Very good roadside location in Pondicherry for travelers going towards Mahabalipuram for a night halt
2)Quite close to 2 important places : "Manakula Vinayagar Temple and Arbindo Ashram"
3)Excellent spread of delicious breakfast (Idli, Medu wada, Sambhar, 2 types of chutneys, Puri bhaaji (quite delicious) sandwich pieces,
3)Lovey cute setup of the hotel. I stayed at room number 104 which was just behind the reception on the ground floor itself. Very easy to reach fastest
4)Hotel has no meals/tea/coffee options but allows food from outside
5)Room and toilets were quite clean. Outside the toilet there was basin that adds flexibility for second person to use it while the toilet is being used
6)Air conditioner was working fine
7)The room service was excellent but 1 person dependent and hence although there was no hot water in the room, he arranged 1 bucket when we arrived and also 2 buckets in the morning (quite hot and sufficient water)
Negatives
1)No hot water in the room. The solar system was not working the person admitted
2)Room linens needed more cleaner
3)In the toilet the toilet jet was leaking
4)Room was just enough for 2 ...so for those with more luggage are recommended to take bigger rooms options which would be with slightly higher cost

basic lodge

just a basic lodge with AC rooms and hot water available. the place is well situated on the road to Pondicherry about 4 Km from Ajanta signal. its just 600m from Serenity Beach so you can definitely catch early morning sunrise.
