Great for forest and snorkelling
Only had four nights, must urge all to go snorkelling.....well-organised day trip easily arranged. Am all also a keen birder, so had hoped to walk in the National Park.....had not realised I could book a top local guide for an awesome morning. Putu, the owner is also a very good birder, and he tailored an outing for me to fit between his other work.....very thoughtful, kind, and indeed productive. Easy to pick up local foods, but located some km away from the main tourist area on the coast. For me that was an advantage, felt very involved with the locals. Friendly, clean, welcoming.

as your mentioned that we are also good in arrangement snorkeling trip, birding trip to national park and me when birding trip combine with visited temple. Very clean and nice, but average stay
Positive: The Local Menjangan is a very neat spot, not far from the resorts and the bay. You can rent a bycicle or a scooter to get there. The rooms are super clean, the bathroom with the open roof is amazing !! Very nice. Breakfast was the best breakfast I’ve had in Asia so far.
Negative: you can’t really get a good night sleep. You sleep next to a farm and the roosters start yelling at 3 o’clock in the morning !!!
Also, we didn’t feel very welcoming. We arrived later than expected because we had a 6-hour delay from our ferry in Java and when we arrived at the Guesthouse, it was pure silence. Nobody was home. Which is weird if you expect guests that day. Our taxi driver had to call Putu, the owner/manager.
Also, apparently, Putu is a guide in the national park. He didn’t even mention this to us, even after we said we’d like to go there. I read the other reviews and he always helps the customers out to get a nice deal and we simply get ignored. This is why I think this place deserves an average score.

Bad Service
We booked this hotel through on of the hotel booking site. We trust it, since it has a good ratings and review. We notified the hotel if we are going to arrived late and they said, that will be okay. When we arrived, somehow they told us that the room are fully booked and occupied, so we have to move to other places they were provided. We were tired and dont want to hustle, so we agreed. Turns out they move us to Cendana Homestay, which is far worse than what we are expected. it's more like a dorm rather than homestay, no blanket, fan, no hot water. the lighting is so bad, and even the bathroom don't have any doors and proper shower. It's quite a downgrade than what we paid for at The Local Menjangan.
Our friends who came earlier also have the same experience but they willing to argue so they stayed at The Local Menjangan, but the owner said they had to check out the next day, because there will be a foreigner tourist coming. I guess, the owner didn't let us stay there, so they can give the room to other guest with higher charge.
The service definitely bad.

I am so sorry accordingly that you are not happy when stayed at cendana menjangan., because on the date it is too many booked in property around and before you stayed there i already check to the room and the owner said everything will be ready on the date that you choose, but he lied me. This property is new so they still need to improving their facilities and their service as well ( cendana menjangan ). I very sorry once again trust me this will be not happen again in future, this is bad experience to me too who was responsible for bookings, it is not my purpose to downgraded you, actually i want to help you in order you have a rest as i checked the room with Ac, and all homestay around fully book because any event at plataran menjangan ( x trail ). Thank you and your review will be valuable to me

Review of the Local Menjangan
This place is a gem. Two self contained new and very clean rooms with a balcony facing a nice private garden. Well off the main road (150m) the rooms have aircon and indoor/outdoor bathroom. Puttu the helpful owner is around to arrange meals and temple tours plus birding. On the main road there are two warungs and a minimart.

Great place, great vibes!
As a travelling family on a budget, it was tough for us to make the trip to the national park. But we found this place, and thank goodness! Putu and his family have a terrific homestay. Small, with only 2 rooms, but that meant we had the magical place all to ourselves. Putu helped us get a great deal to snorkel the island. Breakfast was way better then most of the "included" breakfasts we've had so far on our 6 months in SE Asia. (Try the fried bananas). Putu and his family genuinely cared about our comfort during our stay. The wifi was excellent. The garden has been beautifully renovated. It is located on a side street, we went walking down it toward the mountain and met some of the kindest people. It was truly a fantastic experience that illustrated Bali's brilliant authentic beauty.
