Ok for one night. Close to the train station and BRT line to the airport.

Located in front of Semarang Tawang train station, on the other side of the pond.
A building with high ceilings, which was likely a nice one back in its good times... but would need a bit more maintenance...
AC room, double bed, small desk, chair, bathroom outside, Rp. 120000. Available free cold water for refill/hot water.
Nothing special, but worked very fine for us staying there one night, especially due to the location (train station and BRT (TransSemarang) bus station with direct bus to the airport).
Semawis night market (with a big variety of good food) is walking distance from the hotel too.

The deluxe twin room

Pros: room was clean, had beds, clean sheets, running water, air conditioner.
Things to improve: no one in reception spoke english so it made it very difficult to solve any kind of questions we had, the room had no windows and it had a mold smell, the towels were not prepared when we arrived and it took some time to get proper clean ones, a roll of tissue paper costs extra money, noisy - you can hear everything that is going on in the corridors,wifi didn't work at any time of the stay.
Overall for the price they ask for the room it was quite a poor experience compared to similar price range hotels.

Cheap. Conveniently located. Mosquitos.

The hotel is very cheap, for a room with a single bed, it only costs around US$ 6.00 per night. The room is very small, with one bed, but air-conditioned. The only problem is the mosquitos. The number of mosquitos is amazingly high. The front staffs have no mosquito repellants, so I had to buy one myself.

Okay für layover!

I am a little uncertain about what to write here. The "Hotel" seems to have been something else before (a school perhaps?) and the atmosphere is very weird (are here people living permanently?) although not unfriendly. Staff speaks close to no English but is nonetheless willing to help as much as they can. With information on how to get to Karimunjawa they were not so helpful (though that seems to be a general problem in Semarang). I am certain I would not have felt comfortable, if I would have been alone. Also only cold shower. But good water pressure.
BUT it is very close to the railway station (just out of the main gate and across the pond) and it was extremely - and by that I mean "German" standards - clean, even the floors in the huge area downstairs used for god knows what were sparkling clean. Yes, this is no fancy place and the sheets might have seen better times but at 120.000 Rupiah a night totally worth the money. However if you plan to stay a little longer than just dropping in at night and leaving in the morning (ie for actually seeing Semarang) - then I wouldn't recommend it.

Not recommended for female travellers.

The area in front of the hotel becomes a red light district in the night, so you have prostitutes,sleazy customers, drunk men singing karaoke...not pleasant at all if you have to go to the railway station to buy a ticket like i had, not nice at all-moore scary.
Do yourself a favour and stay somwhere else in this town- not worth the experience.
