A Truly Magical Stay – Worth Every Mile

From the moment you arrive at Abbeyglen Castle Hotel, the welcoming aroma of a turf fire tells you you're somewhere truly special. The cosy atmosphere is unforgettable, and enjoying freshly baked scones with tea by the open fire in the bar is simply heavenly.
Our room was beautifully old-world in style, full of character and charm, yet absolutely spotless. We also had a wonderful view overlooking the lovely green area making it the perfect place to relax and unwind.
The hospitality is second to none. Each evening at 6:30 p.m., guests are welcomed with a Prosecco reception where the owner shares the fascinating history of the hotel and Clifden. His stories are entertaining, full of humour, and there's certainly no shortage of Prosecco!
Dinner was exceptional. The menu may be small, but every dish is beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection. The pianist playing during dinner creates a wonderful ambience, and afterwards the bar comes alive with the pianist and singer performing all the old favourites, creating a fantastic evening of music, fun, and great company.
Breakfast again a wonderful treat - great selection of fresh scones homemade brown bread and breakfast from the kitchen if required.
One of the things that makes Abbeyglen so special is the owner's presence throughout the hotel. He takes the time to speak with guests, making everyone feel genuinely welcome. His warmth, passion, and attention to every detail are evident in every aspect of the experience - a rarity in many hotels today.
It may be a long journey to reach Abbeyglen Castle Hotel over on the west coast of Ireland - but it is worth every single mile. From the warm welcome and cosy fires to the exceptional food, wonderful entertainment, excellent staff, and outstanding hospitality, every moment of our stay was memorable. We left already planning our return and would highly recommend Abbeyglen Castle Hotel to anyone looking for a truly special getaway.

The Best hotel I stayed in!
Staying at Abbeyglen Castle was the highlight of my trip to Ireland! My room was charming - and accessible for my wheelchair. I loved the history talk in the bar before dinner. I'd stay here again!

A beautiful site and cozy look. The rooms aren’t very special for the cost. The room was HOT. 23-24 all night long. I asked if the temperature could be fixed/ cooler. All heat is off was the reply, I requested another room fan late day 1 of our stay and again early Day 2.
Upon departure when leaving, I said to reception that something needed to be done to fix the extreme heat and the manager came, apologized profusely, even carried my bag out… but communication from reception to the boss made for a miserable stay. 24 degrees all night is poor for your health.

A Jewel in the centre of Connemara
My husband and I recently returned to Abbey Glen Castle Hotel after almost 25 years. We were on a voyage of reminiscence and it didn’t disappoint. When we arrived we were met by staff who welcomed us and brought our bags to our room. The complimentary Prosecco reception in the bar every night before dinner was very entertaining. Each night one or other of the two brothers who own this lovely hotel waxed lyrical about the history of the hotel as well as Clifden. Dinner was an event in that the food was excellent and served like a well oiled machine.
Breakfast was as much an event as dinner. The choice and quality of the food was exemplary.
The one thing that stood out for us was that staff remembered our names and made us feel like we were the most important guests.
Rooms were serviced daily.
All the staff were unbelievable and employed for their experience but one member stood out for us personally, and that was Justin. He was friendly, welcoming, respectful and humorous, making our stay memorable.
