An exceptional B&B with unforgettable hosts, stunning grounds, and one of the most memorable rooms we’ve ever stayed in

My wife and I visited Ireland for the first time in June 2026, and Maranatha Country House was by far the best bed & breakfast of our entire trip. From the moment we arrived, Douglas and Olwen made us feel genuinely welcome. They are gracious, engaging hosts with wonderful stories and a wealth of local knowledge — the kind of people who elevate a stay from good to unforgettable.
The property itself is fabulous. Sitting on a hilltop surrounded by expansive lawns and beautifully kept gardens, it feels peaceful, grand, and full of character. It’s the sort of place where you find yourself stopping just to take in the setting and personnel family items on display in the various rooms adds to the homely feeling that greets you here.
We stayed in The Champagne Room, and it was extraordinary. The room was huge, with a stunning champagne‑coloured canopy bed and elegant décor throughout. It felt luxurious, comfortable, and completely unique — a real highlight of the trip.
Breakfast was served in a beautifully laid‑out garden room with views across the gardens. The atmosphere, the presentation, and the quality of the food all combined to create a perfect start to the day.
There’s no doubt in our minds: we can highly recommend this B&B. Five stars — it deserves more. Thank you Olwen and Douglas, it was a pleasure to meet you both.

Wonderful, beautiful B&B!

My wife and I visited Ireland for the first time in April 2026. This was by far and away the best bed & breakfast we stayed in the entire trip! Not only are Doug and Olwen gracious hosts with lots of stories and local information, but the property itself is fabulous. Sitting on the hilltop with lots and lots of lawn and gardens surrounding the property, it was beautiful. The room we stayed in, The Victorian, was HUGE! We delighted in breakfast with other guests both mornings we were there. No doubt, we can highly recommend this B&B. Too bad we can only give it five stars!

Charming, relaxing, delightful retreat.

We stayed here in August at the end of a working trip to the south. I have to say that the building and its owners are first class. We were welcomed on arrival and instantly felt relaxed, we had the pleasure to meet both owners of the property who were charming and instantly make you feel at ease. The facilities are delightful and every thing you could possibly need are provided. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

Two memorable nights

I am a bit surprised that it isn't a perfect 5. I don't feel a need to add pictures because the pictures already available are accurate; no bait and switch here. Absolutely beautiful and clean, and the breakfast is to die for. When we were there, there was a couple revisiting from Canada from 6 years ago. I completely understand why. If I ever go back to Ireland, I would make the road trip down from Dublin just to stay at this place again. We got some great recommendations for dining and traveling. A perfect bed and breakfast experience: friendly, personable... perfect.
