Really nice hotel with large rooms and nice bed.
We planned to try the pool & spa, but Galway was too exciting and fun town, so we did not have time.

Uneven experience
2.5 star review…Booked 2 rooms for our family of 4 in early August and overall experience wasn’t great.
Pros - Rooms were clean, breakfast was good, staff seemed nice. Quick walk to town.
Cons - Rooms were in East wing and as you see from other reviews there are engineering issues in this area of the hotel. Toilets don’t flush well with our kids room requiring 2 maintenance people to fix. 1 room had a musty smell that wouldn’t dissipate and there was a vibration noise we would hear every few minutes.
Expected better for the price paid.

Friendly Staff + Great Location
The Galmont was great! My sons and I (15 and 18) stayed there in adjoining rooms. It was clean and in a great location. I used the gym and that was a nice amenity as well. Friendly staff who remembered my name as we came in and out --that is always a nice touch. It is in a great location too - close to all the fun stuff but tucked back in a quieter part of the city. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

They double book rooms - beware
I would never stay at The Galmont again, and I would strongly discourage anyone from booking here.
We arrived at 7:00 p.m. with our exhausted 2-year-old, ready to check into the double queen room we had booked. We paid nearly $1,000 for our stay because it was an expensive week, so I expected exceptional service. Instead, we were told our reservation had been canceled. I immediately showed the staff that my confirmation clearly did not show any cancellation, yet they continued insisting it had been been canceled.
Only after I called Expedia and their representative spoke directly with the hotel did the truth come out: The Galmont had double-booked our room. Rather than being honest from the start, the staff repeatedly blamed my reservation instead of admitting their mistake. That level of dishonesty was far more disappointing than the overbooking itself.
Thankfully, Expedia handled the situation professionally, advocated for us, and issued a full refund. I’m extremely grateful for their help, because the hotel certainly wasn’t.
Being left without a room after a long day of traveling with a toddler is unacceptable under any circumstances, let alone after paying nearly $1,000. This experience completely destroyed my confidence in this hotel.
Ironically, I’m glad it happened because we ended up staying much closer to Galway’s city center and all of the charming pedestrian streets. The Galmont was much farther from the heart of the city than I had realized, and our replacement hotel ended up being a far better location.
Everything happens for a reason, but I felt compelled to leave this review so others know what they’re risking when they book here. For the price they charge, honesty and accountability shouldn’t be too much to expect.
