Very cute and well-kept property in the countryside among cows and rabbits to have breakfast with, however, in a pleasant 10-minute walk you reach the town center to have dinner at a pub. The room is cute and cozy. The bathroom is tiny but unfortunately in line with Irish standards. Mrs. Margaret is kind and hospitable, offering a breakfast that is perhaps essential and not very rich for many, but for us it was excellent with many homemade and well-prepared things.

The worse place I have been in Ireland
We stayed as a family of three adults at Gortamullen House for two nights, with the reservation made through Booking.com.
Our problems started as soon as we arrived: the coordinates provided on Booking.com did not lead to the correct location. We lost a considerable amount of time trying to find the property and eventually had to call the owner twice. In the end, she had to come and pick us up in the village of Kenmare.
When we finally arrived, I immediately thanked her for coming to get us. However, her reaction was extremely aggressive. Instead of acknowledging that the coordinates displayed on Booking.com were incorrect, she reproached me in a very unpleasant tone for not following an email she had sent after the booking.
When the two members of my family joined us, she immediately told them that everything was my fault, publicly blaming and humiliating me without even giving me the opportunity to explain that I had simply followed the information provided on Booking.com. I found her attitude deeply inappropriate and disrespectful.
The room itself was average at best, and the bathroom was outdated. Of the two light fixtures, one did not work at all and the other flickered constantly. The breakfast was also very disappointing, consisting mainly of bread, butter, and jam — probably the worst breakfast we have had in Ireland in more than twenty years of travelling there.
Throughout the entire stay, the owner maintained a cold and insulting attitude toward me, speaking only to the rest of my family while deliberately ignoring me.
Finally, at check-out, she refused to provide me with an invoice, claiming that Booking.com was responsible for issuing it. Despite three complaints submitted through Booking.com that went unanswered, I eventually had to threaten to report the matter to the Irish Revenue Commissioners before she finally sent the invoice — without a single word of apology.
This was by far the worst experience we have ever had in Ireland. I strongly advise travellers to avoid this establishment if they are looking for professionalism, respect, and accommodation that matches the information provided at the time of booking.

Peaceful and idyllic place
4 stars for the great location. It was simply idyllic and quintessentially Irish. You can reach it within 5 minutes by foot from the center of the village and it’s a beautiful Walk across picturesque country lanes! I fell in love with the green surrounding the place. The room was clean and ultra cosy. From the window I could see the cows just outside in the garden! The tranquillity of this place is enormous. Ideal if you want to relax and forget about the world. Breakfast was however disapponting. It was pretty poor and rather sweet than salty. Everything that was offered tasted good and was home Made including milk from own cows, however there was simply not much choice for the price we paid.

The room and bathroom were basic, the breakfast offered was sufficient. The house is located in the countryside and the village center can be reached in 10 minutes on foot. Small private parking. Good quality/price ratio. Suitable for those with few demands.

A haven of calm
We stayed at Gortmullen House on our trip around the Wild Atlantic Way, so a different hotel each night. After the exuberance of Cork, the Gortmullen was a haven of calm. It provides everything you need for an overnight stay at a really good price, a comfortable and clean farmhouse with lovely views. Margaret who runs the house is a very welcoming person and provides a great breakfast. It's a pity we couldn't stay for longer.
