Mid week family break
Lovely hotel, spacious clean room and great food. 3 minute drive into the village. Loads of activities for younger kids but nothing for young teenagers. Waiting staff all very friendly. For a 4 star hotel would expect shower gel in the pool showers. A few changing cubicles would be great too as alot of people were changing in the toilets which meant you had to wait to use them. When busy there us no privacy.

It’s not that bad..
It’s a family hotel - lots of children running around.
Comfortable room, small bed but I had a great sleep.
The amenities are ok, shower needs updating badly & a spruce up overall!
Food is delicious & well priced - staff are friendly and attentive.

Overnight stay
Stayed overnight after family wedding the staff at Hillgrove were extremely professional & helpful nothing was any trouble….room was spotless clean & food amazing

Comfortable beds, food is lovely! Intolerances really well catered for!
This was an indulgent stop on our mini road trip from Northern Ireland to Southern Ireland, and we’re so glad we chose to stay here. We booked two rooms for our family of two adults and two older teenagers.
The beds were incredibly comfortable, and we all had a fantastic night’s sleep. Dinner was excellent, but what really stood out was the outstanding service. Ciara went above and beyond by speaking with the chef to clearly mark the menu, so I knew exactly which dishes were safe for my food intolerances and which could be adapted.
Breakfast the next morning was equally impressive—delicious, freshly cooked, and served hot. Although I didn’t catch her name, the lady serving breakfast was just as helpful. She took the time to go through the allergen information with me and ensured everything was prepared fresh so I could enjoy my meal safely.
Our only disappointment was not realising we’d arrived on a bank holiday, which meant the pool closed earlier than expected. As we were continuing our road trip the next morning, we also didn’t have time to enjoy the spa.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The exceptional customer service, particularly the care taken with my dietary requirements, really made the experience, and it’s a stay we’ll remember for all the right reasons.

A hidden gem for families!
It is not too often I write a review of a hotel but on this occasion I just have too. Myself and my family travelled to the Hillgrove last Thursday and had the most wonderful stay. It is a real hidden gem and an absolute must for all families. It has a cinema room (2 showings a day) , a kids club (that my kids really enjoyed going to), an outdoor playground, a really cool unique inflatable area with a variety of bouncy castles, a goodie bag for kids on arrival - which along with some treats included some children's currency so that they could go to the hotel sweet shop (penny sweets - mine loved that!), a swimming pool with a shallow kids pool, and our family room had bunk beds - a huge hit! The staff could not have been nicer. I would like to especially mention a lady on reception who very kindly accommodated me in locating our family room on the same floor as my parents and sister. Her name begins with A but I can't just remember it. She was just lovely.
The food in the hotel with was very good, we ate in the bar that evening, four adults and four kids and each children's meal was free for each adult main ordered, which was brilliant. This was an offer they were running for the month of July. Breakfast the next morning had a beautiful selection. My kids especially enjoyed the pancake machine!!
And finally, which I didn't discover until the morning we were leaving but the hotel is also located right next to part of the Monaghan Greenway. Next time I would bring my kids bikes as I know they would love to cycle some of it.
To conclude, I have to say it was just the most fabulous stay. We will definitely be back! Thank you.
